I find it particularly annoying (the phone thing) when the people aren't multi tasking. Like, they lean back in their office chair, hit speaker phone, dial, and then lean back waiting for the person to answer.
Natter 56: ...we need the writers.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I do it too, sometimes. Not really sure why.
Why do people dial the phone and listen to the phone ring on speakerphone, and then pick it up when they get the person. Does this somehow save time? Does the 30 second you can spend without holding the phone really matter?
I hate that too. It's like they're trying to oh-so-subtly announce to the office "I'm making a phone call! I's is impo'tant!"
I've done that. All part of the cult of multi-tasking!
Yeah, see, like Sophia above I've rarely seen anyone actually multi-task while doing that. They speaker it, dial, and stare at it doing nothing, listening to it ring until someone picks up...and then they grab the handset.
I don't know why, but it drives me nuts. Sophia, I am your comrade-in-arms in this.
Hmmm. I may have to re-think the annoying if so many Buffistas do it....

No! Be strong! This changes nothing! Buffistas can be annoying, too!
I'M LIVING PROOF OF THAT!

It's true. He is.
It's true. He is.
It's true. I am.
Been a while since I had to put on a bunny suit for work. Using a screwdriver take apart clean room computers while double-gloved is, shall we say, a pain.
You can see what I wear to work many days here [link] (follow The Working Closet pool link for me and some other people, some of whom I know and others of whom I don't know at all). I forgot my camera today; the pic linked is yesterday. It's rilly fun. If you're a dork like me.
Also a phone pet peeve, but specifically for my boss. She answers the telephone (the business line) with "Hello". Even if she is answering our department's main line. It is very strange and I can tell people get confused because she then has to explain to the m who she is and where she works.
ETA: I think my cold is making me full of vitriol today!
