I lucked out in finding that a co-worker at the bookstore is a licensed vet tech and was interested in stopping by my apartment on her way home tonight and trimming my cat's claws for only $5. Yay!! She did try and show me how to do it myself, but Amarna's too squirmy for one person only. Emily was interested in coming back again next month, so I might be able to save Amarna the stress of going to the vet just for claw trimming.
She saw the cross-stitch piece I'm working on and was asking for advice on how to do it (she just started on her second piece ever, and it's a bit advanced for her at this point). So, she's bringing her piece into the store next weekend and I'll be helping her out with it.
Swapping tasks and advice is always fun!

And yet I still wonder why I get asked, by an exhausted, recently-laboring woman who has just declared this is her last kid, really, can't do this again, when it is going to be my turn? Hmph.
(it was hilarious. It was JUST after they'd taken the baby to be weighed and she was delivering the afterbirth. Her timing, it was something.)
