On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

Our wings are not tired.

We'll see how I manage with the 365 since I already missed 3 out of 8 days. (left camera at office) I'm usually the family picture taker so I'm not in the photos, which suits me fine. I just want to use the camera for something else.

That obsessive consumption blog is awesome. I neither consume nor draw so she has no competition here. Fun site.

What?! Why not? I love pictures of you.

Indeed, Kat is very photogenic. You have a unique beauty. When I see the pictures of you with the babies I often note how you don't show the exhaustion and stress that surely is under the pretty.

What Laura said. Kat doesn't show exhaustion when you are standing in the same room with her, either. Kind of amazing.

I consume. I mean I buy something every day. A tank of gas here, a bottle of water there and something to eat almost every day (today it was a souffle and a tart cherry scone).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I went shopping, and only spent like $5 net, since I returned a pair of $20 shoes (even at twenty bucks, if I'm not going to wear them, they are a bad deal!) and resisted buying almost everything else, except for some goofy $15 "cat nook."

Now tagless for your comfort.

I love that blog! The art is awesome. I should totally do that but I would scare myself with the amount of consumption.

Today, I went to buy Olivia a pair of shoes and we ended up with three. *sigh*

And I got Owen some elastic waist pants--they were on sale at Kohls for $3 so I got him 4 pairs. They make it easier for him to use the potty on his own.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Kat looks very like a mother in her recent pictures. I don't know how to be more eloquent about that, but she's projecting some sort of calm and protectiveness and familial strength.

That clearly comes across.

Me? My photos clearly show me standing in front of curtains.

I have no idea what photo today will bring. I look at some people's 300 pics and marvel.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I made the decision early on to take all my 365 pics with the camera phone so I wouldn't feel pressured to make them good. I think it's working out so far.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Just got back from Restoration Hardware, where we spent a Christmas gift certificate. We got these: [link]

Yes, $65 bookends. Way too much, but they are totally gorgeous and it was a gift cert, so we thought we should get something we'd NEVER buy ourselves. Plus, they should last forever.

Now to finish unpacking the office, since we have a way to keep the books on the shelves.

Excellent reasoning, and nifty bookends.
