'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Last week, I saw a hawk eating something on top of the shopping center building where I go to school in Cambridge. Too far up for cameraphone pictures, alas. Saw presumably the same hawk on top of the parking lot lightpole yesterday.

I always feel cheery when I see a raptor.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I always feel cheery when I see a raptor.

I suspect whatever the hawk was eating would feel differently (or felt differently, as the case may be).

I love working downtown in a tall-ish building, because I often get to see hawks/falcons flying around - sometimes they come pretty close to the window I sit by.

Our wings are not tired.

{{Scrappy}} What they said. It sucks that she has put you in this position, but she is still so very lucky to have such a wise and loving aunt.

Hell no. I can't imagine them being that damned naive.

I know 2 Olympic athletes and they are not even remotely naive. They are fanatical about knowing every single thing that goes into their bodies because they can't risk blowing all their hard work. In theory I can see some trainer giving an athlete some banned substance without their knowledge, but they sure as hell should know better.

Scrappy, I know you know this, but I just want to remind you that your niece's recovery is not your responsibility and there is no one right way to handle her. Al-Anon or similar could be a good resource for you, if only to give you a place to vent to an audience that has been through similar situations. Whatever you choose to do right now will, I'm sure, be in line with the grace and kindness you demonstrate on b.org every day and no one can ask for better than that.

So much this, Scrappy. So very much this.

Did someone unleash the monkeys and chimps in your bathroom too?

Yes. I do not understand what is so difficult about flushing. Really. I am not asking for much, here.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

narrow minds often come with wide stances, all the better for kicking them in the groin

I just wanted to see that again because it is awesome.

There's a "raptor walk" this weekend that I might go on. I see them often but I can't really identify anything beyond "turkey vulture" and "not a turkey vulture", so getting some pointers in the field might educate me a bit.

Every day should be Penguin Appreciation Day.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

All you 365ers need more action shots.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

The Olympic athletes have very clear rules, clearly banned substances.

I feel for the baseball players though. The line between therapudic and abuse (particularly if you are ageing) really can be gray and unless a particular substance was outright banned at a particular time I think its unfair to act like they were flat-out cheating.

More proof that Katie Holmes is under some mind control.

They sure do grow up fast in Hollywood! Little Suri Cruise is not even 2 yet, but already mom Katie Holmes says, "She's a very strong woman."

"I'm very proud of her," the 29-year-old actress added to PEOPLE at Thursday's Glamour magazine kickoff event for V-Day's 10th Anniversary. "She's actually teaching me a lot – probably more than I'm teaching her."

The Mad Money star said she attended the event to support friends Eve Ensler (the author of The Vagina Monologues) and Paula Wagner (husband Tom Cruise's production partner) – but she couldn't help singing the praises of her talented toddler.

"She's very smart and strong," Holmes concluded. "And really magical."

A strong woman? Magical? WTF?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I am so annoyed that this TomKat thing has ruined my enjoyment of Dawson's Creek!
