I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad keeps coming back and getting stronger. Like that kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.

Our wings are not tired.

I'll probably shut up about this in, oh... a while.

I'm thinking you might change your mind after the fact, because totally awesome experience. So share!

Lee, I made pizza for dinner. Kinda from scratch, was the YUM. But pizza of any variety always a good plan.

Oh, and that tv that was supposed to be delivered between 2:00 and 6:00 this afternoon, and that I took a 1/2 day off of work to await? Nope, still not here. They called to tell me they'd be here sometime between 7:30 and 8:00, and they've got four minutes to make it under the wire.

sounds like my night. I have a Peapod delivery scheduled for 7-9. they call and say that they'll be late --9:45-10:15. I ask if they're going to comp my delivery. They guy just keeps repeating the phone number. I say "can you answer my question?" instead of saying "i'm the disptacher, I don't have the power to do that, you'll need to call customer service" he says "I'm just doing my job" and hangs up the phone . I call customer service, bitch, and get the delivery comped.

I take the opportunity to go to my local coffee place because they're showing Star Wars*. I leave at 9:40 (you're all clear, kid!), hustle home, to a message on my machine**. They showed up at 8:56, says the caller ID. the guy says "the driver is outside of the building, and what poor customer service?"

I call again, they give me another credit. I now have to have the delivery on Saturday morning.

  • the coffee place has started showing movies on Thursdays. The inaugural movie was Star Wars because
neither of the owners had seen it WTF? NEVER!?!?!?

  • *I knocked over the umbrella on my way in and trapped it under the door and scratched the )*(*$^&$# floor.

That's why I stuck to "a while." I expect there will be tears and a bout of sorta wishing to do it myself (I know that sounds insane and backwards, but the thing is, I've so expected to never have a kid, having one is...curious.) Once my job is done. I'm good at keeping my shit together until no one needs me to keep my shit together.

Vortex, what kind of flooring? A lot of those things are fixable.

If my spelling improves at all, it is due to neighbor T making the finals in her spelling bee at school. She came over tonight to practice. A LOT of her words are the ones I routinely fuck up.

hardwood. It's near the door, so I can cover it with a rug. It'll be fine when the floors are refinished.

Glad to hear it. Hardwoods are so much more fixable. Still a PIA. (My rental has hardwood parquet that has serious exposure damage pre-me by the windows. It's amazing what soaking it in lemon oil does. Some parts are irreparable, but it does help a lot where it hasn't completely dried out.)

Wow, you know you've really been changed by a place when you read COMM and think, "Aw, mallard snuff porn. Memories."

I just had to skip about 800 posts. I kind of hate that.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

And a boardfull of Buffy fans didn't notice that boys' names "Parker" and "Riley" were right next to each other (at 75 and 76)?

I noticed. It amused me. The biggest ?! for me was Trinity. Really? In the top 100?

This is a true fact about you, sara. you're awesome in a pinch.

My mom's leaving tomorrow. I'm sad about it!

sarameg - Jan 10, 2008 6:18:49 pm PST #2366 of 10001

Aw, thanks. I'm glad I can be. I know I don't really have words in a pinch (btdt, was LAME. Pink hippos?!! jesus), so I stick to useful and taking orders.

You know, I'm glad you'll miss your mom. Not that you'll MISS her, but that she's been a boon to you and is missable.

My SIL isn't missing her mom these days , who hasn't yet met T. And that's just sad, to me. (Cause he's freaking ADORABLE. And they once had a close relationship and if there is any time to keep that with really nontoxic people, it's grandkids and and.)

People are hard, sometimes. I'm learning that. I'd been lucky, and discovering unlucky was rude and jarring. But still love the people. Even as my mouth screeches.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Frances barely registers, I think, because people named such are greatly annoyed at the lack of American ability to spell it any other way than Francis.

This is so true. I had no idea that Americans didn't know Frances is a girl's name, what with it having been so popular once upon a time and all.

One of my bestest friends named her daughter Clara Maud.

My mom's leaving tomorrow. I'm sad about it!

So was it a good visit Kat?
