My cat keeps going and standing in front of the monitor purring madly - I think he thinks that I am looking at him with fondness but I'm really just hoping that he will GET OUT OF THE WAY.
One cat (Toke) is sensibly afraid of the vacuum cleaner, which I just ran over the furry floors. The other cat (Slinky) just stays in her cat bed on the back of the living room chair, with one eye open to make sure I don't get the Tube Of Loud Noise And Wind too near her. I think it's like a game of Chicken for her.
Both dogs? Run like hell when I turn it on. Slinky the cat just mocks them for their canine cowardliness.
All our dogs used to run to the vacuum cleaner- they loved to be vacuumed.
Yeah, my informant told me that they were imported from Australia (pity they didn't include a few koalas) and spread like weeds.
Our dog, Maggie-the-wonder-coonhound, goes to "her chair" whenever we pull out the vacuum cleaner. The entire time we use it she sits in her chair with a pouty look on her face.
Amarna likes to sit about three feet away from the vacumn cleaner and supervise while I use it. She'll move around the apartment with me and watch the entire time. I'm used to all the dogs we had growing up all running away as soon as we pulled the vacumn out of the closet, so I find her fascination with the entire process funny.
My parents' dogs attack the vacuum. Ours mostly run away.
My son is terrified of the vacuum. Instant tears. It lives in the corner of his bedroom, and he's fine with it there, but if we bring it into another room, he knows we're going to turn it on, and cries.
Ozzie has been known to attack the vacuum.
Lillian has a love hate relationship with the vacuum. She always wants to go see them at Costco, but will freak while they are in use.
Annabel tends to dance back from the vacuum when it first starts, but then she tries to help. And she likes to clean up messes with our little dustbuster vac. Once she basically vacuumed the entire living room with it. I didn't try to stop her...
