Up until the punching, it was a real nice party.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

-t, you should see a doctor and get the antibiotics. While it's true that your immune system might be working on the problem, it can be a long painful process because bacteria thrive in sinus cavities, especially if they're camping in that one sinus that drains only when you're upside-down. You'll be more comfortable more quickly if you blast them with a little Cipro.

My mother, a once upon a time nurse, used to correct us if we'd say we had a fever for anything less than 101 degrees. Below that she'd make us say, "I have an elevation in temperature." The brainwashing seems to have worked, because to this day I don't consider myself to have a fever unless I'm above that benchmark -- I might be sick, but I don't have a fever.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Jilli, have you seen these designs? [link] There is at least one other interesting outfit to look at if you scroll down some.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I tried to take my temperature this morning, only to find out that my digital thermometer had somehow converted itself to display only in Celsius. Since my brain was WAY too foggy to try and do that kind of math at 6:30 in the morning, I decided it didn't actually matter and I should just call in sick and go back to bed.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Thanks for doing my thinking for me! I will call my doctor.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Now, I must post of my aggravation.

I have to go canvassing tomorrow to garner neighborhood support on a project my company is doing. I ask Boss, "Did you plan on paying me OT or giving me a comp day?" He says, "Neither - you're salaried. I need the help."

!!!!!!

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I thought legally salaried folk got comp time at least for weekend work. Is there anyone you can check with?

I'm sure - but whatever. It's not worth dicking about over, ya know?

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Speaking of doctors and big pains (because Aimee's boss is being a big pain)....

I saw my doctor for my probable ulcer, and he said yeah, it's probably an ulcer. They drew blood to check for H. pylori (I was so relieved that it could be checked via a blood test, because I was fearing a big tube down my throat), and if it's positive, I get 2 weeks of 2 different antibiotics.

In addition to the 12 weeks of Prilosec I have to take. Sheesh!

I wished my doctor a happy Pi Day, and he was thrilled at its utter geekery. He must have told his office staff about Pi Day as soon as he left the exam room, because after the nurse drew my blood (which took all of 3 minutes) and I walked up to the front, the other nurse there wished me a happy Pi Day.

I love my doctor.

Er, no, supposedly if you are salaried, you work whatever hours they need. Comp time is NOT supposed to happen. Though often employers do go "Wow, you've been working crazy hours, take a day off" However, likewise, if you have to go out for a two hour doctor appointment, if you are salaried you shouldn't have to take sick or vacation time. But often you still have to anyway. It's ridic.

I got positive feedback on my interview yesterday!! They have to talk it over with teh people in charge, because I am admittedly a little light on the stuff they need, but the guy liked me and thinks I can pick it up, so fingers are crossed.

So anyone got a suggestion of how to find an accountant? I will email a few people here who might know/have one, but...I want to know what I need to do to set up from the start, in addition to having someone down the line to do my taxes or whatever.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Meara is right. Basically, the idea is that salaried people are paid for the work, while hourly are paid for the hours they put in. Salaried folks may have job requirements which keep them in the office for a normal shift, but they still have to work weekends or evenings if the work to be finished requires it. I know I do--but I do get to take lunch or leave early whenever I want, too.
