We are back home chilling out after a nice weekend. Yesterday, after our trip to the shelter, we went into Cambridge for the Cambridge Brewing Company's Brewer's Dinner. We also were able to score a deal on a local hotel so we were not beholden to the train schedule (with a 5 course beer paired meal, driving was out of the question). So it was a little mini vacation kind of thing.
I had: the sweet pea soup, the chilled blackened sirloin, the shrimp and avocado salad, the cornish game hen, and the key lime tartlet. The food was amazing and the beers were WONDERFUL, especially the Saison Noir.
Tom had: seafood paella bisque, blue marlin carpacchio (paired with an amazing cask conditioned dry hopped pale ale), arugula salad, seared tuna, and the candied carrot cupcake.
After dinner, we went to a friend's place nearby and kicked back listening to music and drinking beers. Oh! We played Guitar Hero. OMG I suck at it. However, our friends loaned us their old (non-wireless) guitars and a couple of the games. So I can practice in the privacy of my own home!
This morning we went to our old favorite breakfast place (Soundbites) and then went back to the CBC for another glass of the Saison Noir. Now we're home watching TiVo and making pizza. A nice weekend.
Attn NoiseDesign! I don't know where you are going to be Tuesday at 2:28am, but if you are near Kennedy Space Center, or Orlando, or really within 100 miles of the place, there will be a shuttle launch worth watching. The night launches are awesome. DH and I were discussing sending the kids to bed then driving up to watch then driving back home. More likely I will set my alarm and just watch from home because the night launches are easy to see.

The kids have brought this over to the house a couple times, but I was unwilling to try it and be mocked by the teens. It looked hard!

I am SO glad I'm not the only one! My brothers totally rock, and I just embarrass myself.
I know, right? My friend was all, "Oh, it's super easy! My parents play it!" Um... I don't do much gaming (the Wii was the first game system I ever tried) so my brain/finger and hand/eye coordination is not really developed. Hard. But it was cool the few times I got it right for, like, a millisecond.
My SIL and I kept bitching about how stupid it was, then she played and was good and kind of loved it. So, now I'm all alone in my bitching. Good thing I have my Bitches to understand!
Also, Nora, check your e-mail in a sec.
Ooh, that sounds delish, Nora! And Guitar Hero is much fun.

He is out to sea, but I will definitely email him the info. (He's been working 17-hour days since he got on the ship last week and has limited internet access, so I doubt he will see your post.) I know he was aware of the launch and wanted to be sure to see it. Thanks!
I finally have a beautiful girl in my bed every night... but she's a cat
