I think I have to make chocolate pecan pie for my dad.
See, we were talking about next Monday, which is his birthday, and how I'll be coming over after work so they'll probably have already had dinner. I suggested I bring dessert and Mom launched into one of her (usually justifiable) rants about Dad's health. I insisted that it is His Birthday and therefore he should have dessert if he desires it, even if he wants chocolate pecan pie he should have it. Dad agreed. I said he would have it if I had to make it myself.
Well, I'm not finding a local bakery that makes it. I'm not even sure where I got this idea in the first place. I have found a few recipes on line. Any chance the hivemind has a favorite recipe?

DH made this chocolate-pecan pie last weekend on a whim, and it was incredibly easy (with a store-bought crust). I think the active cooking time was about 10 minutes. It was nummy.

ooh that does sound easy. And yeah I have no intention of making the crust. I found another recipe with a layer of chocolate over the crust. We'll see how ambitious I feel on Sunday.
