Spike's Bitches 39: Cuppa Tea, Cuppa Tea, Almost Got Shagged, Cuppa Tea...

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

It's nice to see some brave pretenders trying to make it interesting.

Indeed, Sparky! Congratulations. Seems very exciting!

How long is the course?

It's a week long course, 4 hours a day to the LLM students.

It's a perquisite that comes with my job, and one of the reasons I took it. Theoretically, I can teach there every year and I get a free ticket to Europe, apartment for the week, and a stipend to do so. My DH and I have to decide when he might come over, and where we might go from there. Unfortunately, since it is in the middle of my semester here, I can't be gone traveling as long as I'd like.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

For years, my mother though LOL stood for "Lots of love" because it seemed to be used as a sign-off.

Oh, my Mum believes it still. Despite gentle attempts to explain that it is not so. This does not annoy me in the manner of LOLspeak, since it's (a) my Mum, and (b) she thinks it's an acronym, not a giggle or a flinch.

I've definitely read people writing "I less than three such-and-such" before - probably over at LJ. And I confess, I really like that. Which is perhaps hypocricy - but I've a weakness for geekly shibboleths, or at least the ones that I get, and it's wordplay. I enjoy the occasional use of "I heart such-and-such" and I like the way that someone turned this up to eleven. Bless.

Mostly lurking...

Well, at least I got a good night's sleep. We love you NyQuil, you giant fucking Q!

Oh, I'm so glad! You feel better, and Maria too! This has been such a bad ick year.

Ok. I'm gonna bitchslap one of my tutoring students. I met him yesterday in his prof's office. We set up an appointment for Monday at 10:30 a.m. He just e-mailed me to apologize for not making our meeting this morning. Apparently, he got busy and is starving and needs to get food, you know.

I e-mailed him back and let him know that our appointment was actually for Monday, so we should meet then. But, um, the above are not appropriate reasons for just not showing up to tutoring. He better show up on Monday!

Sox, why don't you post in lj if you're not comfortable doing so on this board?

not your mom's socks.

not a problem - just wanted to remember to take it down after a while.

here it is again (lisah, I'm pretty sure you know where this is - if not, it's just across the street from 'BAR' and down 2 towards Ann street): xlink (also? reiterating and repeating the point that we didn't get listed price - see Sparky re: lzazy realtor above.... not to mention that the last thing he said to us was "can you believe a couple other people who had gone through were angry that they hadn't been given a heads up there was an offer in? Seriously? It's not like we can hold their hands...." )

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

Probably not high school students, though.

We struggle with the hat issue at my school. This is a rather rural area and I'm sure that contributes, some. Some of the guys are just too lazy to take them off and complain about "hat hair".

I was always taught that it was polite/good manners for a male to remove a hat inside a building. The only exception are the military when they are "under arms". Females are able to wear a hat indoors if it is part of the outfit or not athletic/casual.

I am currently watching my kidlets as they frantically take a test. Poor kidlets. Sure glad that's not me!

I was thinking the same thing about the scale rendering lab my Stagecraft 1 babies are just finishing. Boy do some of them struggle with scale at first.

ION...today is a Senior Lunch so teachers get fed too! It's usually BBQ; however, it's nice to get out of the room for a bit and spend some time with my Senior babies. It's about 70 degrees and sunny outside so it should be amazing!

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Hey, does anyone else use @@ or is that just us?

I’ve used it elsewhere, so I don’t know if it was already there, or I brought it. I choose to believe that I brought it.

I'll be teaching here in October

Umm, need a TA?

Baseball caps: remove them when you go inside/in the presence of a lady, or no? Any small-town-in-the-country folks with experience to weigh in on this etiquette question?

Take your hat off when you are inside. I am less rigid about him taking his hat off when you are in the presence of a lady. When I taught, I insisted on no hats in my class or no participation points for the day.

Some of the guys are just too lazy to take them off and complain about "hat hair".

I let it go the first day. After that, they’ve been warned.
