I just got an e-mail from my therapist, checking in on me, because she saw updates in my medical record (the ER visit last night and all of the diagnoses). She was challenging me to practice mindfulness to get through this and not get stuck in "blaming" myself for being sick--as if this is just continuation of ineffective patterns of dealing with stress.

And it's got me thinking. I wonder if I'm sicker, because I was afraid that that was what was happening (that mental stress was manifesting as physical illness), so I just kept pushing and pushing, trying to break the pattern, until everything just built up and made me stop and pay attention.

I'm not going to use this as another tool to beat myself up with, but boy, that's a little frightening. Mindfulness. Yes. Need more of that, me thinks.

(I won't say more than that becuase I, unlike The Secret, believe the universe if smart enough to get the ~ma to the right person...plus who knows maybe it will go out to all Mom's of Rosie who might need some ~ma).

I left for the DMV this morning at about 10:30 a.m. -- I just got home. The most amazing part is that the new DL picture isn't half bad. You can't even tell I died at least an hour before they took it of hunger and tedium while waiting for my number to appear.
