Spike's Bitches 39: Cuppa Tea, Cuppa Tea, Almost Got Shagged, Cuppa Tea...

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Cashmere, you know there's probably an up side to Liv fitting into the cat carrier - it's one way to know where she is and what she's doing. (Need a larger, Owen-sized one?)

I'm sorry, Vortex. Was this the job at that other U. in town that neither of us work for at the moment?

Hi vw! I'm over-extending myself currently also! We should get t-shirts.

We totally should! Now that’s a t-shirt I’d wear. I feel like it should say, “I’m an over-extender! Ask me how!”

So, um. I’m done being poked and prodded and pricked. Unofficial diagnosis? Mono with an unvaccinated influenza strain. And possibly some muscle-breakdown (causing very shallow breathing and low peak-flows), though, we’re not sure why. Waiting for the blood tests to confirm all this fun, but the attending doctor overseeing my resident said, “Well, everything I checked out points to you being completely miserable.” Um. Thanks. I think.

How much do I love my PCP, though? Let me count the ways…

#727--“I’m a little wigged out by your low peak-flows; I’m not gonna lie to you.”

#728--“Dr. Simmons, would you mind doing the flu nose swab? I’ve never done one before, and I don’t think Ms. Bug needs me learning on her today. She’s miserable enough.”

Mono + flu and that's not all? No wonder you're wiped out! I like how your PCP looks out for you, vw.

vw, you must just be beyond exhausted.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I had mono as an adult, too, when I was 28. Not fun at all. Prepare to sleep a lot for the next few months and be unusually prone to sore throats for the next few years.

But you'll get better. I started having symptoms in July or August, was diagnosed in September, and IIRC I bounced back to normal energy levels around January. And it's not that I got sicker more often with the sore throat thing--I got my normal amount of colds/flu, but they all featured sore throats.

Oh, I've had it before, actually...when I was 19. Of course, it was mixed with the viral encephalitis, so hopefully the recovery won't be *that* bad.

And I can't imagine me sleeping much more than I already do. But, now that I've said that...
