What am I forgetting? I am open to any and all suggestions. I have lived with cats before but a cat has never been my sole responsibility.
Ok, things I don't see on your list: the plastic rings from milk jug caps, an empty box [link] a paper grocery bag, and a laser pointer.
You probably already know not to play with the cat with your bare hands, but when you went shopping, did you see all those "kitten mitten" glove thingies with extended fingers?
You may end up wanting a second litter box, because some cats prefer to pee in one place and poop in another.
It might be a good idea to invest in a really comfortable pet bed so you have somewhere to sleep when kitty takes over your bed. You know, just in case s/he doesn't share well.
