[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Also - how is the almond butter, Hil? I bought some the other day, but haven't yet used it for anything.

I love almond butter. My usual use is almond butter and apricot preserves sandwiches -- kind of a grown-up version of peanut butter and jelly. Also good for just putting a spoonful on a plate and scooping it up with apple slices. Also just discovered a great recipe, which I modified a bit to make a really easy side dish: peel and cut up a sweet potato and boil until softish. Mash it with a potato masher, then mix in about a tablespoon or so each of orange juice and almond butter. Then throw in cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger to taste.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

That sounds yum!

I have just finished off a chocolate/raspberry shake, and am trying to work out its carb content. But, damn, it was teh yum.

Hey, you get costumes any time you fancy, miss Drag King!

But there's no drag kings here, Fay! And they canceled the shows in DC, because the stupid alcoholic beverage commission has their panties in a wad about the club having an entertainment license (after it's been having drag shows for at least 15 years?) or some nonsense.

Oh, did I mention my new Egyptian officemate getting to see snow for the first time a few weeks ago? She came into the office with this totally overjoyed look on her face and said, "It's beautiful out there!" (Possibly the first time the word "beautiful" has ever been used to describe Foggy Bottom.)

From what I've heard the DC Drag King thing is the result of a Dupont Circle neighborhood group filing a complaint about Chaos not having an entertainment licence, because they don't want "that sort of thing" in their neighborhood. (Which leads me to wonder why they're living in Dupont Circle anyway.)

Randomly, last night, I had a dream that I met a really hot British guy and was making out with him, but I wouldn't go any further than that, because we'd just met. It seems that I'm a prude even in my dreams.

Yep, that's the essence of it, Hil. The guy in charge was like "Well, there was a petition to stop it". But then couldn't actually produce a petition, and was instead like "Well, people complained to me". Uh huh. Jackass.

Snerk. Soy Whip (soy whipped "cream" in a spray canister) has a tutorial on how to use their product: [link]

I am very much awake. After sleeping about three hours total from Tuesday through Thursday, and then sleeping 21 hours from Thursday night until Friday night. I need to get this sleep thing back to something resembling normal. Today, I'm going to try making sure to be outside a lot during the day (maybe I'll walk over to Whole Foods or something), then turning off all the lights in my apartment except maybe a small reading light after dinner, and leaving my blinds open so the sun will wake me up in the morning.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I discovered a new sort of rudeness today. People never stop surprising me. A guest asked for a refund on some tickets and when I went to straighten one out I realized it was crumpley because it had gum stuck in it.

In Kitty news we are going to the shelter on Wednesday. I have a carrier, a litter box, liners, litter, a scoop, a door mat for the litter box, a scratchy-box, kitty crack pad (which I think I will wait to introduce since the scratchy-box has catnip too and I don't want to OD the kitty on her first day). In honor of pet dental health month I've got a kitty toothbrush and toothpaste. (Doggie Pua got her own toothpaste today and seemed to really enjoy her first ten seconds of brushing.) I've got a bouncey mouse on a cord and some Pounce treats.

I'm waiting on food and a collar until we decide on a cat.

What am I forgetting? I am open to any and all suggestions. I have lived with cats before but a cat has never been my sole responsibility.

Would it be a good idea to bring a towel with Pua's scent on it to the shelter for the kitty to get a pre-introduction? I plan to keep the cat in my room with the door closed for at least 24 hours after she gets home.

Also Pua has a doggie door but I'd prefer an inside cat. If anyone could think of a way to let Pua keep going in and out but keep the cat in that doesn't involve a shock collar on the cat I would love to hear it.
