Mostly lurking...

Poor Trudy and Sox! Bad tummies! No cookies for you.

I am packed. After HOURS of packing and repacking and, well, ending up with one more suitcase that I had planned. Oy. Oh, and I forgot my birth certificate at home, so mom and I have to leave EXTRA early to stop by my apartment to pick that up. Oy again.

Why is traveling so much work???

{{{Trudy}}} Maybe get some ginger ale tomorrow if you're feeling up to going out. Try to stay hydrated.

Thanks. I was hesitant to do this today... do I want to introduce MORE bubbles?

And Re: IBS

About two months ago I had three days of chronic explosive diarreah that raised the IBS flag as well. Oy. Oh dear.

How the hell does a person go from an iron stomach to an irritable bowel? Sheeeit

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

For me more bubbles means the release of some of the bubbles trapped in my tummy. Your bubbles may vary. Try to drink it at room temperature as cold drinks can be hard on an upset tummy.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

You can shake the ginger ale up then open it over the sink, and leave the cap off for a while. I know they say flat Coke and flat 7-Up are supposed to be the way to go for tummy troubles, and ginger is very soothing to upset tummies.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

My IBS is almost entirely stress, rather than food, related. Bubbles help me. Ginger tea and peppermint tea can help. I assume you're taking the maximum amount of Gas-X stuff. I hope your intestines settle down soon, Trudy.

My right knee is killing me. I have no idea what I did, except that I had to do two sprints after the dog under adverse conditions. One was in my sock feet and the other in pouring rain, but I don't remember anything specific. He thinks it's a really fun game.

It is too damn cold. It's 20 and they're talking possible single digits. People in really cold places can feel free to mock.

(edited because my typing has gone all to hell)

Hmm... real chicken/egg there with the boss from hell then, huh?

Oy. I am tired. I've been awake for under eight hours and I'm exhausted. Better take some gas-x and get to sleep.

Thanks guys. You've made this suck much less.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Trudy, as my doctor said , at some point your digestive system can just get lazy.

however, this sounds way worse than lazy. but it could be an allergy/intolerance. write down everything you ate in the last 24/48 hours

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I go with ginger ale for most stomach ailments, but tend not to for this one.

Generally, the bubbles seem to combine and help things come out, but when this is this bad, it doesn't seem to work that way. Do what feels right to you, though.

If you go for ginger and want it flat, I would recommend trying ginger tea instead, so you don't get all that sugar, which can make the problem worse. Peppermint (tea or whatever) is also good. If you have a natural foods store near, you might try Pepogest. It's enterically coated mints and other herbs and works wonderfully well. Just be sure to take it with plenty of water.

Why, yes, this problem does seem to run in my family. Why do you ask?

Signed,
One of my cousins went to the emergency room because this was so bad she thought it was a heart attack

eta: I can't imagine why I didn't predict that this would be full of xposty goodness.
