IOmeN, went for follow up dr visit this morning. After following the nurses advice on what to eat and stuff, the doc laughs and lets me know that all those things have no real barring on the small intestines. That what happened to me was "an act of god, a fluke, and there is nothing you can do to prevent it from happening again". Shiny! So?? Tequilla shooters and Sliders for dinner then! Whoo!

Sigh. My mother just emailed my sister and me an article explaining how compound interest works, and how it's different from simple interest. I'm a mathematician. My sister is a tax lawyer/accountant. She thinks we don't understand compound interest?

I once had an actuarial science class that was entirely about compound interest. Fun, as I got to use the compound interest functions on my calculators....
