Illyria: We cling to what is gone. Is there anything in this life but grief? Wesley: There's love. There's hope...for some. There's hope that you'll find something worthy...that your life will lead you to some joy...that after everything...you can still be surprised. Illyria: Is that enough? Is that enough to live on?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

pertussis
I know, right?

I'm thinking of maybe going for consumption next. I'm bringing coughing back! It's like sexy, except it's really, really not.

Only if your doctor promises to prescribe laudanum for you. There's no point to consumption unless you can be really Olde Skool about it.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Jilli has a point.

On the other hand, there is no point in whooping cough with out the whooping but she doesn't do that either.

Basically, she gets archaic illnesses, but she's crappy at it.

Good point. I also want a fainting couch. Because I've always wanted one.

I have no role model! How was I supposed to learn?

I do love that the drama in that video is evenly split between watching Mikey die and watching Gerard watch Mikey die.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Oh, Cass! If figures help, and I don't know why they should, then you might be interested to know that 619 people had pertussis in Oregon in 2005. There were 159 in Alaska, and 25,616 in the nation, although the real numbers are likely higher because it's apparently underreported.

Why, yes, I had to go look it up.

And Daniel, that skating photo looks just like here right now, only a lot flatter. We're warming up. I think we got into the teens for a brief period this afternoon! Probably above zero even with the wind chill. Of course, that disappeared with the sun, but baby steps.
