Congrats, Jilli & Frank!
Spike's Bitches 39: Cuppa Tea, Cuppa Tea, Almost Got Shagged, Cuppa Tea...
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Yay for raises and contracts and Buffista successes.
And thanks for the benediction Frank, that we should all be so lucky. That was lovely.
My "news" paled in comparison, so I didn't post right after P-C with it.
Got my labwork back from doctor.
Overall Cholesterol dropped to 119. LDL (bad) is 58, and HDL (Good) is 40.
My A1c is back under 7, coming in with a 6.9. W00t!
Nice to see all the good news today. Congrats to all!
I'm having an awkward moment...I think I know what to say, but I'd love some input.
My friend, who runs a prominent marketing agency, has been a huge help to me this past year in getting my new website designed. She is enormously supportive.
When I showed her the draft of the doggy lama pet coaching logo I created, she generously offered to send it to a west coach illustrator who owed her a favor to 'professionalize it'.
I accepted with much gratitude.
The resulting sketch was cute, but not what I had in mind and not particularly logo/web friendly.
My friend requested some changes, including 'less lotus, more pooch' and for the lines to be darker. This is the second version.
My dilemma is that I really, really don't like the direction the artist has taken, but I feel weird about being critical of something done out of the goodness of her heart.
I'm searching for the words to gracefully extricate myself from this transaction while still expressing gratitude for my friend's efforts and concern.
What would you do?

Good health, DCJ!
bonny, I would tell them honestly "Thank you for taking the time, you rock like the Rock of Ages, but these just aren't doing it for me. I feel bad because you did this out of the goodness of your heart and I really appreciate it, but...yeah, no."
Or similar.
Will she know if you don't end up using it? If not, just say "Thanks so much!" and find someone else.
Even if she will know, you could say another friend also did designs and you went with the most "logo-y" one rather than true artistic one.

I actually thought about this, but the friend who initiated the transaction will know...which is what matters to me.

Yeah. This is pretty similar to what I wrote. But with more detail about what I do actually like about the latest version but that isn't doing it for me.
I'm thinking I should call her rather than email.
I just don't want to keep asking for changes to a design where the artist has done a good job, but is missing the point.
Yech.
