Spike's Bitches 39: Cuppa Tea, Cuppa Tea, Almost Got Shagged, Cuppa Tea...

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Something that usually helps my sinus headaches - warm to hot compresses on my forehead or standing under a hot shower with the water running down my face.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I just saw this on tv, and I thought it was an interesting idea for trying to get younger children to eat properly.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I also have the ick and a hell day at work. Poor sickly us! ESPECIALLY cheerful Matilda, the description of whom just about broke my heart with love.

not your mom's socks.

JZ - what I love about this space is that people feel comfortable sharing many different experiences - sick kids being one of them. Hugs to Matilda.

I was at our co-op and somehow slipped that we were using Tylenol when she and I were both really sick - it was as if I had said I was tying her to the train tracks at night for safekeeping. Seriously, I wish I had more patience myself, but this - absolute harshness and mean-assedness because I'm not making homebrew polutices. Set me on edge. Sorry if I brought it with me to the board.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh what-the-hell-ever, Sox. Why do people have to be all up in everyone's business all the time?

(Um, at them, not you, in case that wasn't clear.)

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I am now full of awwww for poor sick Matilda.

GC, I'm so sorry all this is piling up on you.

I am the queen of the respiratory infection, and I have all the drugs separately: ibuprofen, antihistamine, decongestant and guaifenesin. If my nose is just runny, I take an antihistamine. I take a decongestant (and only the kind you have to sign your life away for is worth anything) if my sinuses start filling up, but I only do that if I really feel terrible or I'm flying, because it makes me wired. Particularly during the day, I think it's better to take the guaifenesin and lots of fluids to help you cough up mucus, and only worry about the cough if it's keeping you from sleeping or you're going to the theater. If the cough gets bad, only codeine works, but despite the fact that I've had bronchitis one to four times a year for my entire life, the doctors still treat me like I'm a glassy-eyed twitching addict and allot me four ounces of codeine cough syrup.

t / rant, except that the codeine rant never closes

Okay, that's probably more than you wanted to know. My real point, when I started, was that it's better to know your medicine and take exactly what you need.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I'm getting allergies (you know of the non-allergy kind). My cousin sent me this this morning [link] with the message "He would have loved this." (He being our grandandy.

Can't. Ruin. Makeup.

Oh my. Blessings of ease to you and yours.

And a warm hug to Matilda and JZ. Having the snot monster in residence for the last week, I feels so deeply for her...and the heartrendingness of cheerful, sick baby. Aww to infinity.
