"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I've been saved from Mary Kay hell. Temporarily at least, we had to cancel dinner. My friend (SAHM with 2 kids) decided to start selling Mary Kay. Less about the money, more about the socializing, I think. Problem is, I don't know anyone who a)wears Mary Kay or b)wants to try it. Perhaps it has changed, but I remember it as cheap, overly perfumed makeup that made me break out (although in fairness, I was 15 and looking at a potato chip made me break out. But never as badly with the MK) I have ZERO desire to be involved, and even less to try to get someone else to come with me. But, I want to support my friend. If she'd done Pampered Chef or something, I could definitely work with that. or even the candle stuff. but Mary Kay? No.

THere's a lot of Mary Kay/Pampered Chef among military wives. Even though I don't hate the make-up, I've always found MK to be the most...pushy, I guess. I like Pampered Chef and the scrapbook one the most.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I got into a great rhythm consulting. I'd get up at 10, check email, respond to anything urgent, plan my day, do some little stuff. At 12-12:30, I'd go to the gym. I'd get back an hour later, and shower and make lunch. I'd watch a half hour of britcoms and eat, then back to work. Take a break around 4, maybe run some errands. knock off around 7, make dinner, watch TV until 11 or so (11:30 if Undressed was on). I would then check email and work a little more. I would watch Gargoyles at 1:30Am, then go to bed. It was awesome.

OMG how badly do I want this schedule.

Plus, if you throw in the fact that their colors are not the greatest for black women, I have even less interest. I could even do scrapbooking, I like pretty paper.

sometimes I cry at night when I remember. It was so fucking awesome. And I looked great, because I was rested and going to the gym 4-5 times a week.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

ChiKat sells Mary Kay and she gave me some for Xmas, and I have to say, I'm highly impressed by it! I have the same memories of it that you do, Vortex, from some high school era parties I was forced to attend by my mom, and it really has changed from those days. She also gave me some great hand cream multi-step system that has saved my skin this winter.

I was actually just wondered if they had improved in that area. I think scrapbooking is lots of fun, but only if you have the time.

I really like MK's cleanser/face moisturizer but they *insist* on selling it with the foundation, which I never use, and that always bugged me. WHy make me buy something I know I won't use?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I thought I remembered ChiKat selling MK -- but sadly, other than her, everyone I've ever run into who sells it has been the Church Lady type. It could be truly great makeup, and in my mind, it'd still be associated with the powder-pink flowery Look-Girly-For-Jesus vibe.
