Buffy: He ran away, right? Giles: Sort of, more. turned and swept out majestically, I suppose. Said I didn't concern him. Buffy: So a mythic triumph over a completely indifferent foe? Giles: Well, I'm not dead or unconscious, so I say bravo for me.

Spike's Bitches 39: Cuppa Tea, Cuppa Tea, Almost Got Shagged, Cuppa Tea...

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

So I'm wondering whether Jilli has yet read this. And, if so, what she thinks.

Fay, Jilli has read it. I'm not sure of her opinion though. I'm sure she'll pop in to tell you at some point but this is her first day back at work today so things may be rather hectic for the poor wee thing.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It's been just over a week since I've talked to my mom (the last time was, oddly enough, in the presence of Buffistas). I was incredibly busy in L.A. and at the wedding(s), and I saw no reason to invite potential ruin on myself by calling home. Remember when people were suggesting that I try e-mail since phone conversations don't go well sometimes?

Sunday evening, I got this:

hi looks like this will be the best way to keep in touch i hope since you do not call.

I resisted the urge to flip out and just proceeded to send her nice pictures from the wedding(s) specifically taken to impress potential future wives (and one has usurped tommyrot's "natural light" picture as the best picture ever taken of me (and everyone always thinks that one is creepy, so I guess it's good to find something better)). Predictably, she couldn't unpack the RAR file, so I had to resend them unzipped.

Her response:

hi sunil i like these nice picture of you you look very handsome . mommy CALL ME I NEED TO HEAR YOU VOIC

So...I guess I'll go ahead and call. I've been out of the house over eight years now. You'd think she would have let go a little bit. A little bit. It's nice to be needed, I suppose.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Oh, I don't know if the wanting to hear your voice ever goes away, dude. I am 51 and I think my mom would like to talk to me three times a day. She is not crazy so she knows that's not possible, but she'd like it. As it is, since my dad died I talk to her four times a week or so.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I'm off work today. I slept over at Mom & Dad's and made baked eggs in ham cups for breakfast. I swapped the creme fraiche for some homemade creamy mustard and it was scrummy. In a little while we're going to play paddle tennis.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Totally. I'm 37, lived on my own for almost 20 years, and still my mom thinks calling once or twice a week is not enough.

Mostly lurking...

Back from the beach. I snorkeled! And it was fun! I only freaked out once. My friend is such a good teacher (she is actually a licensed scuba/snorkel teacher). It was mucho fun! And I got some sun! And it's a gorgeous day! And the water was nice and warm! And my diamond shoes are pinching again, causing me to overuse the exclamation point!

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

My mom would love to have me call once a week. Or more. Sadly, it is much more like every other month. But since she and my dad do things like Cruise the Panama canal.... When my folks are available and when I'm available is not always the same time. And my mom is only likely to call if she has heard from me in awhile

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

My mom got kind of aggravated with her mom for demanding a phone call every day when we lived in Baton Rouge (and Grandma was in California), so she doesn't freak out over not hearing from me, or any of her kids, regularly. We often have plans to discuss or she'll have some interesting info to pass on or something, so we'll talk often enough without really trying.

Huh. I wondered why nobody was posting in Bitches... turns out I wasn't subscribed!
