Goodbye and Good Riddance 2007: Heaven's Just a Funky Moose

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2007? Don't think we've forgotten about you.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Peter only did it so he could finally get with Matt Murdock

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Peter only did it so he could finally get with Matt Murdock

I prefer to think he did it so he could get with Murdoch from the A-Team. I smell cross-over!

Fay, I just saw your Santa saying elsewhere that they had been waiting on one thing, and were now ready to send it (but possibly having worries about customs, and whether the post is safe, in Thailand, and so on).

So you have not been forgotten or lost.

I, like Fay, am not being an ungrateful hussy - it just hasn't arrived yet! But then I do live in a galaxy far, far away.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Awesome!

As to the post - as far as I can gather, it's actually pretty reliable. And unlike Egypt, I'm not unduly worried about the mail-handlers ransacking things and nicking stuff they like.

...'course, if Santa decides to send me a vibrator I could be in trouble, because they're illegal here* (!!!) - but honestly, I doubt that they check the post, and worst case scenario they'd confiscate it. Joyless buggers. Well, or if it were hard drugs (then I could get right down to living that 'Bridget Jones' lifestyle in the Bangkok Hilton!) or something that belittled the King, then I might be in bother. Otherwise, should be good to go, insh'allah.

  • which, at the risk of being TMI, should not put Santa off sending such a care package, should the thought have crossed his saintly old head. No indeed.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Talking about foreign customs and attitudes this weekend at the SF con, I was told that while the Japanese are perfectly fine with vibrators shaped like characters and animals, the ones shaped like human body parts are illegal. Thus the plausible deniability.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

or something that belittled the King

Guess that's a no on the "Rama IX wears funny glasses" postcard, then.

Just kidding, I'm not your Santa. And if I were, I'd have sent jam. Also, his glasses are sleek and flattering.

Want some jam?

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I just got home from vacation yesterday to find a package from (I believe) a CA zipcode, containing the book Wanderlust ( [link] ), a collection of photos from trains, airports, hotels, restaurants, etc. all over the world. Very cool! And since our trip home was the very definition of "hellish" (I was sick, bags went missing, planes were cancelled, then rebooked, then delayed, ad infinitum), I have to say it made me laugh to open up the book and see pictures of people sleeping in airports and feel nostalgic ALREADY for travelling. Anyway, Java cat, I'm assuming the book is from you? If so, thank you! It's perfect!

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Talking about foreign customs and attitudes this weekend at the SF con,

Huh. Aims and I were at a con this weekend too...

...though I didn't talk about Japanese vibrators.

At least, not that I remember.
