Yay! Secret Santa is in the mail. Fingers crossed it'll actually get there on time.

Goodbye and Good Riddance 2007: Heaven's Just a Funky Moose
Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2007? Don't think we've forgotten about you.
I just got the most wonderful card from Thailand. It has Santa and, um, water buffalo? I'm not sure what they are, but I just absolutely love the card, love it. Plus, Fay has the most beautiful handwriting. Thanks Fay!
Cool beans! (Yes, buffalo - the Thais are big fans of buffalo. Seriously. It's a thing.)
wrt Seekrit Santa...well, the good news is that I have posted my package. But the bad news is that, what with the exciting 'Hey, you have no visa!' fun at the end of my time in Bangkok (oh, okay, and mostly with me being a twat with time management) I ended up not posting it from Thailand, but rather bringing the bits & bobs to the UK. So I mailed it yesterday - but I have a strong suspicion it won't get there till after Christmas. Um. So, if you haven't got your pressie by Christmas day...well, don't panic, 'cause it might be from me. In which case, I swear it's en route. Um.

SORRY!!!
I am assuming that Lee must have snitched about how I steal boring institutional library bookends from my various employers.
Noooo. I'm not sure I knew that actually.
By the way, Anne, that blueberry bark is mighty tasty but those fruity chocolate thingies are freaking delicious and I need to stop eating them before they're all gone.
The raspberry caramels? Those things have become my favorite Serious Indulgence candy ever.
I was holding off until a better sense of equilibrium hit me, but I think this is it for a while. Overall, a good year with lots of growth and change and movement. Many, many new friendships and insights. Once again, please to show you my awe at this particular community and how powerful a force for good (despite best attempts in natter) it is.
teh good
- DH's new (first in 10 years) REAL job
- Iris sprog and those things she says
- being on the same coast as Sparky & Sparky DH
- delurking on b.org
- rediscovering that friends are friends no matter where you are
- TWC
- a week at the beach in June, lots of great roadtrips
- reconnecting with mentors, finding new inspiration - hoping for more time in 2008.
- (ETA) Oh, and DUH! Tiara!
teh bad
- moving away from friends that are like family and family that are as friends
- [nonprofit bizarroland rollercoaster universe]
- sad realizations about what 10 years in one raggedy-edge, but useful-for-paying-off-a-PhD/postdoc lifestyle, spot does to a person's resume.
teh meh
- house issues (and Alan STFU Greenspan's sense of timing)
yay anne!
yay fruitcake!
Thank you !
Fruitcake!!!!
Nom nom nom!
So...I gots me a package last night!!! Very cool stuff indeed. Considering how much I couldn't think of what to put down on my info bit my "Seekrit Santa" did wonderfully.
My Loot:
Rice Crispy Treats: These are a favorite "Go me!" rewards already.
Trader Joe's Chocolate: (In my part of VA we have no Trader Joe's)
Shit List and Cell Citation pads: Both of which can be used at work
X-mas Mix: It's a killer mix indeed. It's currently working overtime
I'm very very happy! All I know about my Santa is the post mark is from Philly. As unfamiliar with my b.org-eography... whom do I thank?
OK, Seekrit Santa story time (now, with pictures!):
So I got a UPS note two days ago. I swing by my apartment office, pick up a package. (A long, weird box.) I get home, I start to open it, I see "1 of 2" written at the top. Hoof it back to the office, but missed them by a minute, no lie.
So I wait to open it. Don't even look at the label. Today, I go get the other package. I now must officially deem SailAweigh the COOLEST.
So it's no secret to some that I'm a big ol' Supernatural fan. So what does Sail get me but a "Winchester Emergency Kit." It includes a model Chevy Impala (with doors that really open), a tool kit for the trunk (which can't open, but that's ok), which is so tiny that I needed to show scale, and a pop gun which I'm sure a tiny Dean begged for Christmas 1982.
This is, no exaggeration, probably the coolest gift I will get all year. I can't thank you enough, Sail, this is SO AWESOME.
