Man, I was a goody-two shoes, and when I thought a teacher had crossed a line in high school, I walked out. If I'd actually had an attitude (beyond hippy-dippy, very polite anti-authoritarianism I grew up in) I can't imagine what the effect the sort of thing Gadget_Girl is describing would have had.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
We are losing about 1/4 to 1/3 of our teachers every year because of the administrative issues. The student morale is getting so bad. It is a sad and depressing place to work.
Yikes, this doesn't sound like my son's HS at all. You need to move! Seriously, our principal and teachers rock.
Thanks for all the anniversary wishes. Now if only DH would come home so I could see him.
How is your DH, anyway? Loving parenthood? Still pondering whether or not pancakes make a sound? Does he still have his lovely art-boy sideburns or has he moved on to more fatherly facial hair?
He is well, thanks, and loving parenthood. He's an utterly devoted dad. But no more sideburns, tho' they were fun while they lasted.
Egad it is RAINING! I wanted to go look at Xmas lights tonight, but maybe that's not such a good plan. Pout.
Hey, Jessica. Welcome back.
Timelies all!
I do not get gifts from my boss, and I do not give gifts to him. No big deal.(Working for the government may be part of this, as well as the fact that I'm the only non-post doc in the lab)
Stabby-stabby?
Dropped me to my knees, let me tell you. Still feels like stuff is way too connected and shit is tugging on shit.
I'm trying to imagine my reaction to 9 teachers having any shared opinion on me other than "Well, she could spend less time in the computer room" or "Wish she could use that work ethic on her O & A levels." And they'd never have come talked to me. Oh, no. They'd have told my parents and then it would have been big Oh Over.
Happy anniversary, Burrell!
I am still a bit resentful that my boss doesn't throw a holiday party for the department. I feel like it's a faux pas. Oh well.
At my school, teachers and students were always getting up in each other's stuff if anyone got out of line. That's just how we were.
That's just how we were.
Freaking hippies.
We were just an Oxbridge admissions machine. If it wasn't about the school's exam results, it wasn't important. But the student body (at least my year) had kinda self-selected for that, so it was no biggie.
