"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Huh, so. I got a raise and a bonus, and an opportunity to increase my pay with special projects next year. I wasn't expecting that.

Woohoo! E-mail me with details!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

For those of you who object to the shape of the twisty CFLs, there are now domed lights available that look more like traditional incandescents.

For those of you who don't like the quality of the light, there are a wide variety available now. You should look for a color temperature near that of incandescents (2700K - 2800K, I think) and as high a color rendering index (CRI) as possible (incandescents are 95, you want at least 80 out of your CFL.)

GO shrift! Yay special projects!

I am the anti-ita on this. I am crazy about salt, but that may be due to my upbringing what with the soy sauce and the nori and the general sea-related products. The SO worries about how much salt I consume, so I try to cut down, but it's rarely successful. When I break down foods I like it almost always comes down to salt. Thought I loved butter, but I bought unsalted (still sweet cream) butter, and not so much. I wanted to salt my buttered toast. Thought I loved rice, but it's probably just the salt I put on it. Tomatoes? Yum. Salted. You get where I'm going with this. Yeah, cheese, too.

I am the exact-Liese on this. Must be the genes. I pretty regularly eat almost everything on that high-sodium food list. And was overjoyed to find that Mexican saladitos are pretty much the same as the salty seeds that I grew up with in Hawaii. Dried salted plums, with no other purpose but to be a tasty salt lick!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yay shrift!

I love all things salt as well, so it's a good thing my blood pressure is good.

The one I picked up at IKEA is great. I had a CFL in the bridge lamp that's normally by my chair (the chair moved to make way for the tree), but it was painfully bright. The domed light diffuses things enough that I'm not blinded by the thing when I sit. I'm going to put the other one in my overhead light.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

My blood pressure is probably not good enough for me to eat as much salt as I do. But salty things are just so delicious!

The IKEA CFL's I bought won't fit into most of my light fixtures. The twisty ones are at least the same length as a regular bulb, even if they're not very attractive.
