The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I am definitely not crafty myself, but maybe I can play around with it.

I think I'll hit BBB and Target tomorrow, and see what I can find.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Typo, I would've been much more like the 17-year-old, only I would've been so busy hyperventilating in terror that I couldn't have actually spoken!

Susan, I totally understand, if flying (under poor circumstances) is one of your terrors. I would be the same if something pinged one of my deep fears (large growling dogs for example).

But if flying is not a deep fear for someone, and they are already in the air, and know where the exits and flotation devices are, and have taken whatever reasonable precautions are in their power (other than not flying United which is a choice many people make), then they might as well laugh.

In terms of the prayer, think of it this way. Most people in the USA believe in prayer to some degree. The flight crew who might notice you praying are on those things regularly. They are probably glad for whatever reinforcement you give. Hell, if I was a crew member on United, and I believed in prayer, I'd want the Pope and Dalia Lama praying on every flight, but I'd take what I could get.

[On Edit] And I put it that way only because the crew did not know you. Knowing you (even if only electronically) as long as I have, if prayers have an effect other than comforting the person praying, and possibly the (human) person listening, then I'd say yours have a better shot than most.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Oh, believe me, I admire everyone that could laugh under those circumstances! I don't particularly like that I'm a big fraidy cat coward about bumpy plane rides or planes making dodgy noises.

United, eh? I would've guessed Alaska Air, but they're, perhaps unjustly, the airline that scares me the most because of that crash in 2000--something about the fact that it was caused by poor maintenance AND that the people on the plane had 10-15 minutes to know they were probably going to die before it actually happened. If I'm destined to go out in a fiery crash, I'd rather not know what hit me!

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Susan, I might be the opposite of you in terms of flying fear. I do ok as long as I simply do not think about the mechanics of what the plane is doing. But for that brief moment when I'm stepping from the accordian-tunnel-gate thingy into the plane, and I can see the metal shell of the machine that will be keeping me from falling out of the sky - the sight of that just freaks me right the f*** out. And then I'm inside the giant magic bus, and I'm fine. Until I have to step through and look at the skin of the beast again.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I woke up this morning convinced it was Friday. I still have to keep reminding my self that no, it is Thursday.

Strangely enough, the fact that it is Thursday is a relief, given the amount of work I have this week.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

It's Friday for me. I'm burning off PTO before I lose it at the end of the year, so I'm off tomorrow and Monday. The sad part is, I have so many things I have to get done, I'll be busier than if I were at work.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I took the night off from school because of headache. I've got one this morning, so I'm all in a Life Sucks sort of mood right now.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am incredibly tired and have neither milk nor anything to eat for breakfast in the house. I guess I'd better get going to somewhere which will sell me breakfast and then to work. Meh.
