We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I cleaned out my wallet to pay for my lunch at the cafeteria today, and still shorted them by eleven cents. Oh, well, I'll pick up some cash at the grocery store tonight and pay them back later this week.

I'm taking tomorrow off to head down to my dad's near Joliet and will probably run into the sleet/rain/snow storm that's supposed to start overnight. Damn.

Here's hoping that at least the elevator at my apartment building is working by now--they shut it down on Saturday due to severe shuddering and noise-making issues, but the management people don't know if it's been fixed yet (they saw the repairman's van earlier, but he never called to tell them the status). At least I'm only on the third floor, but I'd rather use the elevator when I have to schlep my groceries home tonight and do laundry later this week.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I heard Masterpiece Theater was going to air all of Jane Austen's works over the first few months of the year. Yummy!

I need more coffee. WAY more coffee. I was going to wait until after lunch, but I think I'll go grab a cuppa joe now.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm making my new years resolution early this year - not to fall on the ice and break something.

Also, fuck Burger King.

Also from the Masterpiece Theatre piece

Other films include . . . “My Boy Jack,” starring Daniel Radcliffe, of the Harry Potter movies, playing the son of the author Rudyard Kipling . . . ."

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

My assistant had an emergency appendectomy this weekend. Poor thing! I have to keep jumping up to run to the front and accept deliveries--which is actually good, since I TOTALLY need the exercise.

Yeah, I caught myself before I fell. But it's still annoying, as I was watching the sidewalk carefully looking for ice and I still slipped on a patch I didn't see.

And we get more freezing rain tonight....

not your mom's socks.

I just bagged out of a marketing research survey after the third question... don't know why but we saw that this firm had called twice this weekend after 7, and I wanted to just stop the calling when I answered. The second question was 'are you in the 30-65 age range' and when I said yes and her third question was 'what is your age?' I just sort of said 'within that range' and didn't feel like saying '35? What of it?', but the caller said "you don't want to tell me your age?" and I realized that I really didn't. No idea why. so I asked to quit the survey and get taken off the call list. I hope I was nice about it.

This happened to me the other night. We were making our way to the Walgreen's for some Ben & Jerry's ($2 pints!) and looking so hard and walking so carefully and I still totally fell on my ass. I didn't hurt myself though... I credit that to the couple of beers I'd had previously relaxing me!

Good for you Sox. If it isn't a pleasant experience, why do it? I'm generally pretty charitable around surveys...mostly because I would not want that job...but sometimes it just isn't worth it.
