Mini-meara:
I'm about to run out of Kona coffee from my relatives. Do you think they're going to send me any more for Christmas?
I’m giving Kona to all my relatives if that’s any indication. I got most of my presents in Hawaii and was thinking of doing gift cards for the rest because I am so out of ideas. Given the discussion here, now I’m having second thoughts.
love coffee, hate Starbucks
I want to hate Starbucks, but I keep doing tests with local places and (besides Italian roasters in Brooklyn and North Beach) I have yet to find someone whose coffee I like better.
Online billpay is awesome. About the first thing I did after taking over family finances was to set up bill paying online. At first I think it annoyed my wife that what was a major chore for her I now take care of in a few minutes.
I don’t get this. Going online and clicking through to pay my bill is about the same as writing a check. Note: I don’t do fully automatic bill pay because I got screwed once by AT&T and was never able to get my money back. No one gets automatic drafting rights to my account anymore.
What's an Arnold Palmer?!?!
1/2 lemonade, 1/2 iced tea for people that don’t realize the “Half and Half” has been around forever, long before said golfer. The stubborn New Englander in me refuses to call this drink an Arnold Palmer.
Of course, IMO it’s only worth ordering when the tea is unsweetened.
I'm skipping lots and lots and poking my head for a minute (I'm at my parents), to wish anybody who celebrates it, a happy Hanukkah, with lots of light and loved ones and all-sorts of your favorite fun stuff, and all good things.
Today we light the first candle. I love this holiday.
And now, *poof*, I leave the computer for now.
Happy Hanukkah, Nilly!!!

When I hear "Half and Half," I immediately think Guinness and Bass (my brother is particular about not calling it a "Black and Tan" because of political reasons).
Hi Nilly! Happy Hanukkah!
And Woo hoo - Netflix is sending me Waitress after all. And The Flight of the Conchords - both disks. Yes, I watched all three of my Netflix disks this weekend.
Happy Hanukkah, Nilly!
I have a coworker who buys tea at Starbucks. That to me is totally nuts -- you can buy the same tea bags they use for like a one-zillionth of the price!
Well, yeah. It is nuts. Ditto for the coffee though. But I do get green tea lemonade, sweetened with splenda. I could buy all of the attendant pieces and make my own at home, but it would be more expensive than just a tea bag.
(Splenda is ridiculously pricey!)

I don't agree. You can buy the exact tea bags they use and add hot water yourself and it is exactly the same.
The coffee is much harder to duplicate. I've made lattes at home with the same beans and they are not the same. Plus, it's much more work, because of setting up and cleaning the machine.

I thought that was quite funny when I first went to Boston, and all the 'Irish' Boston people were drinking Black and Tans and thinking how Irish they were. And I had to point out the flaw in their naming logic there.
I discovered Half and Half the same year I discovered I was diabetic. Put a crimp in my lemonade drinking. I've been experimenting with affordable sugar-free variants.
