All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

mac would like to know who would win in a battle: fire or ice?

Good question. I would say it depends on environmental factors. Is there enough fuel for the fire to keep going? Is it cold enough for the ice to melt and drown the fire, but still re-freeze?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Ice.

You have to ask yourself, who would win in a fight of fire vs water? And then extrapolate.

Also depends on quantities. A tray of ice cubes will do jack in a wildfire. OTOH, they'll handily put out a candle!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Speaking of, OMGWTF ICESTORM. The dog and I just got blown all around trying to walk in the ice rink that is Chicago. I think I'm not going out tonight after all.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

(Last time he was at a track, they proudly pointed out the fire extinguishers that they'd never had to use at one of those events. J said "Oh, why did you say that?" Sure enough, they had to use them to put out his brakes.)

I once did that to a podiatrist. He was putting some sort of caustic destructive substance on my sister's nail bed so the ingrown nail wouldn't come back and I said "Isn't it nice to be a doctor that doesn't emergencies?" and that night whatever the caustic destructive substance was had gone too far and was sort of eating my Sister's toe and we had to page him. Oops.

From what I've tasted of desire, I hold with those who favor fire.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Speaking of, OMGWTF ICESTORM.
We are under warning for OMGWTF SNOWPOCALYPSE. Not, um, that we've had any snow, but It Might Happen!

The Snow Demons (summoned, as usual, by Jilli*) are only in Seattle so far.

* If we repeat it often enough, it's a fact, right?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

It was 80 degrees here today.

Oh please. If I were any kind of English Major I'd have noticed before this very minute that a guy named "Frost" went with fire and written a fifteen page paper about just what that means.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Hivemind fashion question:

Tomorrow evening I'm singing in an Advent carol service. We don't have a dress code as such, but the director suggested that we avoid black as too mournful (IOW save the all black for Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday) and red as too festive. But much of the semi-dressy end of my winter wardrobe is, you guessed it, red or black.

I do have a nice royal blue button-down shirt. It's dark, but also very bright. It's not even kinda navy. Can I wear it with black pants? Dark brown? Neither?
