hip deep in pie

I am getting a TiVo for Xmas! I sent an email to all my family members with a link for preordering, and said, "This is what I want. Please chip in and order it for me." And they did! I have scared the cats several times by randomly yelling out "TIVO!" all day.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Whohoo, Tivo! You're gonna love it, Sue.

not your mom's socks.

We desperately need a TJs run. Sarameg - do you trek up to Towson or have they finished the downtown one yet? Just kidding (that's still a bare plot of land, I'm pretty sure).

DH is making couscous with pine nuts, spinach, tomatoes, and cheese - all gooey and casserole-y. And we're having onion quesadillas too. Though I could make that into a fritata without trying too hard. Hmm.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I made chicken noodle soup for lunch because the soup pot was clean. Possibly I need to run the dishwasher.

I'm managing to cut down my monthly expenses a lot. I feel less panicky about it. If I can keep my expenses down I might actually be able to start saving money again.

Tj's run is on the bill for me tomorrow. Cherry cider, mmm.

Today I made the loveliest soup with TJ's faux-meatballs, rice, carrots, celery, onion/garlic, in a creamy tomato base. Oh, and some dill I froze over the summer. Very nice indeed. Very comforty and nutritious.

I wish my DH would eat soup. sigh No soups, no casseroles, no sauces. He's so lucky I married him anyway.

No soup?! Impossible!

How can anyone not love soup?

Then again, I had a friend who refuses to eat vegetables of any kind.

Sarameg - do you trek up to Towson or have they finished the downtown one yet? Just kidding (that's still a bare plot of land, I'm pretty sure).

Actually, there's one in Pikesville on Reisterstown Rd, just past the beltway (next to the Barnes&Noble that used to be a Bibelot.) It's a whopping 3 or so miles from me. I went to the Towson one ONCE and swore never again. The parking was such a clusterfuck.

I managed to squeak in a load of laundry (from my trip.) One less thing to do tomorrow!

Talked to my brother with T babbling in the background. He put me on speakerphone to see what T would do. Made him cackle...until he started grunting. I got called Aunt Poop. Brother's day at the track was today, and he had a blast. He also got free extra sessions and DID NOT set his car on fire. Brakes did start smoking again and he had his picture taken by several others as a result. (Last time he was at a track, they proudly pointed out the fire extinguishers that they'd never had to use at one of those events. J said "Oh, why did you say that?" Sure enough, they had to use them to put out his brakes.)

Ooohkay, I think I'm hearing gunshots.
