'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Eating out is good!

As a kid, Thanksgiving used to mean a visit lasting a whole day to my mother's second cousin's horrible house where there was nobody to play with but my brothers, no toys and games for kids, my distant relatives' idiotic opinions and being made to dry all the dishes after dinner (while my brothers watched The Game with the other male relatives).

I've had nice and wonderful T-Days since then, but the scarring started young.

Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Some fear it will give us a bad reputation as a venue. But if we're keeping people like Celine away, I can't see a negative.

Yup. I love this story. It makes me happy every time I think of it. And narrowly avoiding a Celine concert helps us to remember to be grateful for every Celine-free day. And we can laugh at the petulance. Win-win.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thrive to spite them

Happy Thanksgiving!

We're at a pause in the dinner making. Our menu is: turkey breast (for Mom), vegetarian dressing with cranberris and walnuts, green beans with mushrooms and shallots, mac and cheese (a version with butternut squash, we'll see how it turns out), rolls, and vegetarian gravy. Which I'll be attempting for the first time, I cooked the mushrooms and shallot separate from the green beans and then I'm going to make gravy in that pan to try and add the flavor. Pumpkin pie for dessert.

Then I'll go over to my extended family with dad and eat more green beans (dad's making veggie for me), sweet potato casserole and more pie.

And then I'll explode.

Compassionately intolerant

Also, I'd ALWAYS be psyched for the BBC to do Shakespeare's plays completely with new actors on a regular basis. If it's a strike-break thing, that sucks; but if it's just another go at the bard, I say have at it.

I just watched Taming and Dream last night and loved them much more than I expected to. Delight!

And then Pushing Daisies this morning with a piece of strawberry short/cheesecake. Double delight!!

I'm starting a fast tomorrow and actually looking forward to it.

As for gratitude...I already posted my appreciation for the Buffistas over in Bitches...and I'm grateful for so much else, the list would surely be boring.

Huh. What a great thing to be able to say. I'm so blessed, I'm boring!

This year I am especially thankful for the chance to be in school, and enjoying it so very much!

hip deep in pie

I am thankful to the mysterious person who put my garbage can back at the end of my driveway after garbage pickup yesterday.
