Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

OK - some good news, and need for advice.

A global warming group is having a meeting in Bali prior to the big conference. They are interested enough in the work I've done that they are willing to pay for a plane trick, hotel and meals for me to come. Event though I have to leave Monday, I'm accepting.

Here is the need for advice. They may be able to pay for me attend the actual Bali conference itself. (Think of this as the next Kyoto. But they don't know yet whether they have the money. I'm worried that if I wait longer the ticket will go up beyond what they are providing expenses for. On the other hand it is already Tuesday, the ticket is for a plane leaving Monday the 26th. How likely is it that prices will go up a lot in that time. Especially with the military coup in Indonesia and everything. (I note that in spite of the drop in the dollar tickets from the U.S. to Indonesia are cheaper than they were some months ago.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I dislike the apostrophe, because to me, that indicates a possessive.

Me too.

I embrace the apostrophe in this sort of situation only when it makes things clearer, as in "There are 6 I's in the first clause of this sentence."

The apostrophe-s with the "I" keeps it from looking like the word "Is." Much less confusion.

However, since "Ceos" is not an English word, I wouldn't use an apostrophe with "CEOs."

Trust my rage

Jesse, I read that earlier and was horrified by it. So disgusting. I would be so upset if I took my daughter to a football game and ran into something like that. eta: or my son. when I have one.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Kat--since we don't have a landline, I am using my cell. Which is, um, at home getting charged up.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Typo -- wow, what an opportunity! But I don't have a clue about airfares. Could you try calling some travel agents and explaining that you're trying to figure it out -- or is the group in contact with a travel agent already? It's their job to know these things!

Punishingly Intricate

Now, THIS is offensive to women:

ugh.. why did I read that? I know people are evil! (Although it does kind of make me want to go up there and teach some of those guys a lesson in Pain.)

I embrace the apostrophe in this sort of situation only when it makes things clearer, as in "There are 6 I's in the first clause of this sentence."

Exactly! Rules should exist for a reason as should exceptions to them.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I hate the apostrophe there. Jars me.

I don't like the Pauli ad because I think the image of the woman looks weird and ugly. Sexism? I would be reaching.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The cafe I'm in has cats. Three feral cats. The cafe people are trying to tame them so hopefully they can have homes. In any event, they're gonna get the cats fixed.

The kitties are just hanging out at the back of the cafe, playing under the couch. I wish they weren't feral so I could go play with them....
