That's just why I'm happy to call myself a nerd, less happy to be called a geek.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I stick with "a little off." Covers a multitude of things.
I knew there was a geek/nerd distinction but I can never remember what it is. If I start trying to figure it out from first principles I get all hung up on the guys biting heads off of chickens.
Eta what I was actually meaning to say: I don't know how to apply that distinction to myself. In any given subject, my depth of knowledge is quite shallow, especially compared to real experts/fans/geeks. But my wide-ranging shallow store of trivial knowledge doesn't really add up to academia, either.
I really like Tyra's haircut. Wish I could pull it off.

Speaking from the future, I can assure you that it will. Evenually.
Hey, you were right!

Hey, you were right!
Yay!
You are very smart, you know.
The good news: JZ after months of dispiriting job hunting got one job offer from a very cool architectural firm that specializes in hospital/health care design, and looks like she'll get another offer from the new biotech project happening in SF.
The bad news: After Emmett got dropped off at school today, he broke into tears and could not go on to the school ground. The principal collected him and took him to the office and his mother was called and he went home for the day. He doesn't know why he burst into tears or felt so disconsolate. It's like...like...he just crossed the barrier into crazy hormonal teenagehood two years early.
