This proves that anything can be made better if you just spend $1,000.
The corollary to that is the mantra I keep repeating everytime I'm afraid I will kill someone about still not having my car. "If it can be fixed with money, it's not that bad."

Yay new water heater, Robin! And I'm glad you've now made it through your first homeowner's emergency with no worse consequences than, well, a new water heater.
This, Robin!
GC, that's an awful story. Christ people can be awful.

This is definitely my homeowning credo. (looks askance at savings account)
OK, I need to get the ok to release everything in the next 20 minutes so I can get out of here and get a much needed haircut. Move, people,MOVE!
Having read the MySpace article, I am saddened and horrified. Not just grownups, but friends of the family. Makes me shiver.
I don't even know what to say about the myspace article. It would be horrible even if the girl hadn't committed suicide. And the worst part is that the other family kept lying and didn't confess to what they did. The parents would never know if it hadn't been for that one brave girl who came forward.
It's that pack mentality, pick on the weakest aspect that creeps me the hell out. I expect it from kids, but would hope most adults would know better or at least save it for the weaker adults.
And yeah the asshole parents seem to be in complete denial about the depths of their assholery. Sending a condolence letter!?!?! Asses.
Tomorrow he'll install a brand new water heater.
Make sure it's Energy Star qualified.
t Reflex. I've made a living telling people that for many years
The liners of water heaters only last so long. I replaced mine at the 10-year mark to get an energy-efficient model and to avoid the flood, which I've had before. Then there was the time something happened to the pressure regulation and the water heater filled my house with steam. Homeownership is so fun.
Sorry about the house baptism, Robin.
Ded from cute!
