Don't you just love it when you make sartorial decisions in the early morning that turn out to be less-than-wise in the cold light of day?

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Happy Birthday Jess!!!

May the day (and, more specifically, your co-workers) bring you many, many, MANY cupcakes.

I find that the cold light of day shows up all the food stains I missed in the morning light. Missed, or didn't bother checking for when I picked the day's clothes off the floor.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Goddammit. Now I want cupcakes.

I have a dentist appointment at 11:00. I think I'll have to postpone cupcakeage until after then.

Random question: Do you pronounce the 't' in 'often'?

For a long time I didn't. Then I realized I wasn't pronouncing it. But to pronounce it felt like an affectation to me. But then not pronouncing it made me feel like a hick. It's a dilemma.

Now I think I pronounce it softly, most of the time.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Now I want cupcakes, too!

Or a nap. Either way would be OK.

Nope.

I can't imagine not pronouncing it.

John Scalzi visits the Creation Museum:

The interplay of this Holy Trinity of explanations comes to its full realization when the Creation Museum considers what really are its main draw: Dinosaurs. Are dinosaurs 65 millions years old? As if — the Earth is just six thousand years old, pal! Dinosaurs were in the garden of Eden — and vegetarians, at least until the fall, so thanks there, Adam. They were still around as late as the mid-third millenium BC; they were hanging with the Sumerians and the Egyptians (or, well, could have). All those fossils? Laid down by the Noah’s Flood, my friends. Which is not to say there weren’t dinosaurs on the Ark. No, the Bible says all kinds of land animals were on the boat, and dinosaurs are a subset of “all kinds.” They were there, scaring the crap out of the mammals, probably.
