Brand new crowns. The whole buildup has already been done and paid for. I think I avoided root canals. Or I already paid for it. I have normal looking rebuilt teeth that can chew but don't have long term potential. Possible implant for one if it goes horribly wrong, which I'm suspecting given it feels funky. My insurance covers 50% of one crown every 18 months, and the insurance negotiated rate the rest of the time. Which is cheaper than the dentist's supposed rates, but hell. People, this is why you shouldn't avoid a dentist for a decade no matter yourgoddamn stupid neuroses (I'm so my mother's daughter. She did the same stupid thing.)

eta: molars, going insurance rate here of $630 a pop. I think. Insurance statements confuse the fuck out of me.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

gum reshaping

The scariest word combination in the english language. Unless you are writing about a bubblegum sculpture that needs repair. Then it's okay.

That's how I got my two crowns.

I was just at the Dentist on Monday, and they think I have something wrong with my bite, and want to recontour some of my teeth to make it more even. I'm not looking forward to it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I got my root canal(s) and crown from a bad dentist in my youth. The breaking teeth I'm pretty sure I got from my parents.

That said, I'm due to go to the dentist, but between Halloween candy and cough drops, I think I have to wait a few weeks!

Yeah, suddenly I'm glad all my problems are above the gum. Yearg.

The ridic thing is that the dentists still compliments my teeth. "Braces?" Uh, no. "Really? They're perfect!" And I had an ortho tell my mom when I was 11 that I'd need braces, but we were too poor at the time to spring for that. "The teeth that people see are in perfect shape! Why are the rest so crappy?" Genetics? Fuck if I know.

They do push whitening, but a) I have vices that make this kinda stupid waste until I get over them and b) I'll spend money on makeup and haircuts, but for me it seems kinda... a bit much.

I paid $910 for each porcelain/gold crown on a molar. That was two years ago and without insurance.

Okay, has anyone been in Lane Bryant lately and looked at this coat? What I really need to know is what kind of lining does it have? Is it for winter weather (I mean Canadian winter) or it is for now kind of weather?

Kristen, the non-insurance cost is $924 + (ack) $725 root canal. The build up was $235. The estimate worst-case total uninsured was over $8.5 K if there were root canals. Excuse me while I go pass out. I was so in denial and this made me go look at the initial estimate.

I really hope I don't end up needing a root canal. Not a single one.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

yay shrift for the porn and the interview!

New random cooking question: I bought the Trader Joe's frozen croissants, and it turns out they want me to proof them uncovered on the counter overnight or some shit.

I covered it with a thin, clean dishtowel when I left them out. They were fine.

I still haven't worn the ballgown skirt I bought with Kat, ita, and Lori. That's how little I need pretty dresses. Work clothes, on the other hand, I need.
