Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please? Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

when I didn't see iMix, my first instinct was just to search on "Motifs iMix," and that didn't work either.

What makes it worse is that you used to be able to do just that -- a couple of years ago, iMixes (or at least a link to the iMix list/search page) did appear on the front page of the iTunes store (then known as "iTunes Music store") (I know this because I wrote the documentation that was Jossed a month later). I see a lot of the thing (in any given technology) where instructors suss out one very specific pathway to their particular precious thing and pass it along to their colleagues for YEARS on end, and never mind if the publisher was completely bought out two editions ago.

I'm not sure what's to be done other than making sure that your textbook site *will* be a stable link, and pushing that as a central resource -- if the iMix URL changes, that's one thing, but when the publisher's entire site structure changes from year to year? OY!

(I'd also be interested in how the iMix thing works from the publishing side -- we experimented with instructor-created iMixes a few years back, and in spite of giving students iTunes for free, we never got beyond single-digit downloads. Total numbers, not percentages. But then again, there's a lot more French content now than there was then.... But that part can definitely go offline!)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ugly Betty: I can't believe they went there with "Hallelujah," but otherwise, that was a season-finale-worthy episode!

Ann, that's a ferret.

I hesitate to interrupt all the porning.

But Teddy got through his re-transplant surgery okay. He was walking around the cage in ICU this evening, which is a good sign. Hubs and his sister may be able to visit him briefly tomorrow. Sister's daughter and I will head up on Saturday, and I'll stay for the Veterans' Day holiday weekend. And possibly an extra day or so -- no decisions on that yet.

This time, the donor was Seamus, a large orange kitty. I haven't met him individually, but Hubs and his sister tell me that he is a combination bundle of love and eating machine. He weighs almost 19 pounds. He and Rigatoni apparently were close friends in the donor colony.

Rigatoni is settling in nicely. He's met Max and Marie a couple of times, briefly. There's been a little sniffing, a little hissing. And Marie has hid under the bed, twice.

We've learned some about the backgrounds of Rigatoni and Seamus. Rigatoni is what is called a "purpose-bred cat." The purpose being to be an experimental subject. He apparently was in at least one experiment, which led to his tail being shortened by a good deal. (I don't know the details of the experiment, and I don't want to.)

Seamus was dropped off at a local animal shelter, and nobody wanted to adopt him.

In both cases, Penn took them as kidney donors. Otherwise, they'd have been put to sleep. So when I worry about the ethics of putting them through the surgery without any real consent from them, I remind myself that they're getting a good home out of the deal.

Hey! Maybe there will be a Bunny Slounge.

Isn't there a picture of shrift in bunny ears, slounging? In fact, I have just uploaded one to flickr in case anyone needed one...

Meara wins a prize for that link!

Shrift must get the job!

t facepalm

I'm not entirely sure why it's so hilarious, but maybe it's because one doesn't normally get free porn with job interview.

Pretty much exactly that. It's the Christmas issue with Kim Kardashian, and I think the only reason I know who that is is from Go Fug Yourself.

I need to e-mail a thank you. Roommate has suggested I send an actual thank you note on paper, but I am ambivalent on that.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Send them the pic, shrift!

Sorry, that's too apropos.

I am suddenly taken with the idea of wearing this to the krav holiday party, but I don't need new dresses, and that's just me acting out. And then there's this which has even less justification.

I feel so un-LA. I left my car at krav last night, cabbed it to the ER, cabbed it home, bussed to and from work, and then wasn't able to catch the anticipated ride to krav to pick it back up again.

Which means not much more than bussing again tomorrow and maybe walking to krav. But it feels like it's against all the rules.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I have that. Works better with petticoats. And comfier than you'd expect for a vinyl ballgown too.

ita, if you decide you DO need a vinyl ballgown, let me know. I'm sure I can find one for far less than Pyramid Collection wants.
