Right, there comes a point where you have to either move on, or just buy yourself a Klingon costume and go with it.

Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

OH MY GOD.

I drove up to the house just now, with Annabel in tow, only to see that our garage door was standing wide open and some of the boxes stored there were tipped over. The past few weeks we haven't been locking the inner door from the house to the garage after a lockout incident...so I was pretty sure we wouldn't have a single valuable left to us.

On closer inspection the garage didn't look ransacked--it looked like maybe someone was in there and ran away because a passerby spotted him. I'd like to think it was just a cat or something, but the boxes that were knocked over were awfully heavy for that.

I led Annabel through the garage, opened the door quickly, and shouted "Who's there?" in my best firm, authoritative voice, hoping that if anyone was inside, they'd be startled into making a noise. I didn't hear anything, and I felt better on seeing that the two most obvious valuables in the living room, the laptop and the TV and its assorted accoutrements, were still there.

I then had Annabel wait in the living room while I took a fire poker (best weapon I could find) and went through the entire house, finding it empty, thank God, and undisturbed.

Now all I need to do is find out whether DH went out through the garage this morning (he left after me) so I know whether I need to rip him a new one or beat myself up...

Because that was TERRIFYING.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Yikes, Susan!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Scary, Susan.

I had the thyroid ultrasound this morning, which was normal. (Also, painful.) The endocrinologist called the afternoon and left a message saying my T3 and T4 levels were normal. But he also said my TSH level was outside the "normal" range but still below the standard for treatment, and I know several people who have TSH levels nowhere near what he said was the standard for treatment who were immediately given meds.

I'm going to have to see a different endocrinologist in January, anyway, because his office is going to stop taking my insurance at the end of this year.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Yikes, Susan! That is scary! I'm glad the house was empty!

It's nice to see some brave pretenders trying to make it interesting.

Sheesh, Susan! How scary! Glad it turned out ok.

Hil, my friend has "normal" range thyroid levels that are definitely not normal for her, but it took a while for her to be diagnosed because the levels didn't seem off to most of the medical professionals she saw. Good luck with getting the help you need; sometimes you have to fight for it.

Heh. DH did it this time, but informed me that I'd done the same thing once before and he just didn't say anything about it.

We've made mutual vows to be more careful and are reconsidering the whole "leave inner door unlocked" thing.

Art Crawl!!!

Susan - that's so scary. Thank goodness it was just absentmindedness and not the criminal element.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Glad it turned out to be DH, Susan. Scary!

Hope the January endocrinologist is more helpful, Hil. That sounds frustrating.

Eeeep! Thud. Wibble. Brain broken

Hee! I was waiting for Teppy to see the picture and enjoy. Come visit Seattle, Teppy! People will tie you up! :)

I'm thinking of renting Love Actually for Christmas this year.

I adore that movie, and may be making it a holiday tradition--the first time I saw it was over a Thanksgiving break, and it totally put me in the "Christmas is coming!" mood.

Is it wrong that I want a beer after I get out of therapy today?

No. Is this the one who thinks you're an alcoholic, or was that the other one?

Eep, Susan, that's very creepy!!!
