Mal: You want to tell me how come there's a statue of you here looking at me like I owe him something? Jayne: Wishing I could, Captain.

Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Favorite Christmas song ever?

"I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas"(Gayla Peevey)
"Christmas Wrapping" (The Waitressess version, although Spice Girls' aren't that bad)
"Christmas is All Around Us" (Billy Mack. Hee.)

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

"I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas"

You've seen Jessica the Hippo, right?

All is well that ends in pizza.

The jazz renditions of classic Christmas songs by the Vince Guaraldi Trio from the Charlie Brown special always make me smile.

But a part of that may be the nostalgia factor.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

O Come All Ye Faithful...

I like it in Latin. Yes, I'm pretentious. I'm happier when I don't really understand the words, I guess.

In tangentially related news, our morning Pledge of Allegiance announcer stumbled and had us pledging to "one god... under god..." I thought, this is exactly the problem with reciting it as a... whachamacallit. By rote, basically. You don't think about what you're saying.

Also, I agree with Aimee on the "Christmas is All Around Us" thing. I'm thinking of renting Love Actually for Christmas this year.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

It sort of kills me that when I was 5 dress sizes smaller I felt every bit as gloomy and embarassed about my weight as I do now

Fay is me. Sigh.

I like "The Bitter Withy," [link] particularly the versions where the child Jesus actually drowns the boys who were teasing him. Then there's Longfellow's anti-war poem put to music in "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day."

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Jesus. My dad's brother was in a horrible car accident in Tampa (where he lives) and is not expected to pull through. The medical team is basically just trying to keep him alive till his kids get there in about a half hour or so.

For those of you keeping track, this is right on the heels of my dad's best friend dying of crazy quick killing and agonizingly painful cancer.

I don't even know how to process all this anymore. I'm on grief overload.

(((Nora))), that's so horrible.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

1990s-era SNL, as performed by the Sweeney Sisters.)

I'd never seen that! Not blasphemy, fun!

When I think of Christmas, I think of....BELLS!
