Timelies!
The shriekitude of the BoSox fans in the bar I was in last night was enough to make me root for the Indians. Seriously, nearby dogs were cowering and covering their ears.
Laura! Hi!

Laura! Hi!
SO, I told my parents not to feel like they had to call me every 4 hours with Ellie updates. But it's killing me not knowing how she is doing. I'm dying to know how she slept, was it hard to put her to bed, when did she wake up, is she eating okay, has she expressed missing us?????
But, when they call, I feel bad knowing she's *right there* on the other end of the phone and I can't talk to her. (I don't want to make her miss me by reminding her of me.) I think I need email updates, but I know from experience that it's hard to write lots of email with a 2 year old. Plus, I want them to have fun and not worry about me so much.
OK, we had protesters over the weekend (IMF/World Bank meeting in town). As usual, a section of town around the headquarters was closed off, increased police presence (the sight of a ... flight? ... of bicycle cops was entertaining), traffic was a nightmare, lather rinse repeat. BUT ... this year the protesters decided to march into Georgetown, disrupting traffic, commerce, and frat boy drinking. A number of stores closed early, some had plywood over their windows (broken windows are fairly common - either someone throws something or someone gets pushed into a window). A brick was thrown and a woman was hit in the head. A cop was pushed off his scooter. The protesters overturned a bunch of newspaper machines. Except for the woman being hurt, pretty much as usual. The news was covering it in detail, interviewing shoppers/barhoppers about it. One young woman, a visitor (from Texas, IIRC) was upset about the violence and said "they should make protests illegal. All of them."
Should we prepare to kiss the entire Constitution good-bye now?

If you can find it.
And, zombielike expression notwithstanding, my God, I'm suddenly having a flashback to my experience of watching Julia Styles in The Bourne WhateverItIsThisTime and going "OMGWTF! SA!"
A comparison which both baffles and flatters.
I had my first introductory French course this evening, and I know too much french to be in the class! So I'm going to the kind of advanced intro class. At least I hope I am.
It is very cold here. Very cold.
You were in a dream I had the other night! you were getting married and, for some reason, I had to find you a handgun covered with sparkly white and pink crystals.
Excellent! Much better than mine. I woke up dreaming I was fighting with my son over school stuff. Blah. Just got up rather than rolling over.
It is very cold here. Very cold.
It is hot here. Very hot.
It's hot here too. Weird!
Hubby and I were watching baseball because nothing else was on (we have antenna TV). He was having problems with the lettering on Boston's uniforms. "Is that a B at the beginning?" he asked.
"They're not the Bed Sox, honey. They're the Red Sox."
"I don't follow sports, you know that."
"It's why I married you."
My family growing up was not a sports family. It wasn't until I met Brendon that I paid much attention. Now I am a playoff fan. I don't follow much during the regular season but will watch when it matters. I'm a bad fan.
I, also, am a playoff fan for baseball and football. Though the liklihood of keeping up with football during the regular season is far greater due to them only playing once a week. And this season, it is FUN to watch the Patriots.
But I can't watch the regular baseball season- far too time consuming and much less interesting. Post season play is really interesting, I think- and last night's game was a textbook nail-biter with a happy ending! (for me)
Sorry you had the obnoxious BoSox fans, juliana. They are why I watch games at home.
