Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Doggie worries are so stressful!

Bartleby was really, really sick for the first 3.5 years I had him. So, in contrast, the occasional tummy trouble is old hat. I used to feel terribly guilty when I had to fast him for whatever gastro-woes he might suffer.

A good friend got mad at me for fretting so much and yelled (and he's not a yeller as a rule) "Goddammit Beej, that dog hit the f---kin' LOTTERY when he met you...get over it!!"

Point taken.

Whatever the worries are, I hope your pooch feels tiptop quicklike.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

yeah it's tummy stuff. She was out in the desert with her Dad who spoils her in food ways that are not so good for her but she's his dog so I don't feel right objecting. I heard that when he told the vet what she had been eating the vet replied, "that would give any dog diarrhoea ."

Dis is mah Kona Pua

Poor pup! I'm glad she's feeling better. And Suzi, I'm glad that K-Bug found her phone.

Things that are bumming me out right now:

  • The women in my family tend to have major arthritis issues, especially in thumb joints. I've always had a little pain there, but it's gotten a lot worse in the past few days. My thumb joints hurt a lot right now. Sigh.
  • Another fun genetic gift is my chronically high cholesterol. But even though my recent bloodwork came back normal and my cholesterol is down under 200 for the first time in
forever and my good cholesterol is nice and high, my doctor sent me a note chiding me to cut down on high cholesterol foods and exercise every day. Way to rain on my parade, doc.
  • Drew is in Toronto all week.

ETA: And add to that something that just pissed me off: Some chick just called me from Best Buy to survey me about the GPS we bought. Um, WTF. It's 9PM on a work night. Back off.

I'm sorry about the funk. I'll be better tomorrow.

Ugh with the grump Kristin. Pain sucks and your doctor is probably doing the cya thing which totally does not celebrate your success. Fie on doc!

Being better tomorrow is a good plan, but for now...hairpats and the big lip (pouting) are definitely in order. Blergh.

that would give any dog...
Yup, in my experience, nearly anything can. I've stopped being bugged by it. Bartleby eats something off the street without permission? He suffers. I can't seem to do anything about that...except to have canned pumpkin and peroxide on hand at all times.

I often quote this sobering ad I saw once on the back of Dog Fancy magazine. This little girl is holding up a huge oatmeal raisin-looking cookie to an obese Lab. The caption said, "Sometimes, we love our pets a little TOO much."

I've really learned that lesson after putting Bboy on a diet that netted him a 7lb. loss on his wee body. Turns out the Basset in him didn't mean he needed to be fat and I didn't have to give him a WHOLE biscuit whenever he did something right. A corner of the biscuit would have the same effect! He's soooo much better off and, at 7, has the energy of a puppy.

Moral: When it comes to pooches, too fat and too tummy troubled is within our control!

Did it have an olive and a pickle with a ruffly toothpick on top?
