Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Yes. The non-caffienated are the natural prey of the caffienated. I don't think it works the other way 'round.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

She was very interested in Northeastern, where she did get to tour the campus and go to an open house in the Health Sciences department. Apparently she was not impressed with their presentation.

Just as well. Northeastern's got a bit of a bureaucracy problem, from what I understand. Then again, it's rare for a school not to.

I myself hit snooze until I'm going to be late, then get up, hit the coffee button, jump in the shower. I'm usually out the door in just over a half hour after I get up, always later than I should be. With this setup I do manage to get coffee, but there've been times I've waited until work. I guess the adrenaline rush of the up-shower-clothes-subway sustained me until I got to work. Nowadays, of course, I have to be actually awake to commute, what with the twisty mountain roads. So I kind of need the coffee in advance.

I was gonna say!

Regis and Kelly is annoying. Why does my family torture me so?

Ok, this made me go "buh?", my girl isn't in NY. Oh, yeah. Ok....

I think I'm taking BART to the airport to meet her. They are already talking about how bad traffic is to the airports.

The status is NOT quo.

Because the 15 minutes it takes to make and drink coffee is 15 minutes I could be sleeping.
I boggle that I am able to get dressed in anything decent in the middle of all that (post shower, pre-driving I should say).
I plan my outfit the night before. Sometimes I even put it out so that I can save that 5 minutes of “where did those pants go? I can’t find my other shoe”
Vortex is me. On a work day, my alarm goes off at 5:30, and I do the snooze thing until about 5:45. Then I shuffle into the bathroom and into the shower, because there is no way I am functional before showering. I always leave my outfit hanging in the bathroom because I am utterly incapable of taking less than an hour to figure out what to wear in the wee hours of the morning (decision-making before the sun comes up is not my forte), so I towel off and pull on my clothes. Then I feed the cats (who have been meowing incessantly since I got up), do my make-up, dry my hair, grab a breakfast shake, and stumble out to my car. If I leave no later than 6:30, it takes me about 45 minutes to get to work, and I grab a coffee once I get there. Luckily I own a Prius, so it drives itself to school.

My rationale for not getting coffee when I first wake up is two-fold: my stomach isn't usually quite ready for the acid of coffee yet, and I always feel guilty about making more coffee than I'll drink. (Okay, the real reason is that I forget to set it up the night before.)

And all of this made me think of this post from Miracleman that I just had to Nilly.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I don't understand the snooze button, For me the worst thing about waking up is the alarm going off. If you hit the snooze, just when you start dozing off, you have to go through that hell AGAIN. I set the alarm as late as I can, then I know I have to get right up.

I also love going right into the shower. It's warm and soothing and I like waking up under the water.

Robin is me. Except both my DH and I are people who get up without an alarm. We set one, just in case, but I can't remember the last time it woke me up.

Hee! He's not even home in the mornings anymore! But he does have to call me to make sure I'm up by 6:30.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I need some advice. I'm going to be seeing a friend that I haven't seen in a few years tomorrow night. We haven't seen each other because she has been in graduate school and doesn't come home very often. I wanted to get her a little thought gift, but it has to be something that she can take back to Italy (where she is doing her post doctoral work) easily. Any ideas?
