Now, if my kid(s) were bored to the point of not being challenged and were causing mischief or disrupting class, then I'd really have to think about it. Maybe not a full double promotion, but going up a grade for reading and math. My elementary school did that with a lot of kids (myself included) and it seemed to work out better in the short and long run.
I'm with you. Besides, learning to deal with being bored is a good life skill.
(psst, it isn't juliana's birthday, it's her self-identified New Year's Day. see: Beep Me.)

Oh, connie. I didn't realize Koogie was 18. What a good long life for a cat. Hugs to you and DH.
Aw, Connie. I'm sorry for your loss and glad you got to give him a quiet and loving send-off.

Here's to a wonderful "new year" for you, brave and beautiful juliana!
connie, I'm so sorry. One of my coworker's dogs died this morning so it's already been a sad pet day. I'm glad your Koogie died with you.
Yeah, a good long run. For years now we've been calling him a lich-cat, because he lost his last tooth a good four years ago, and for two years he had a weird open wound on his flank that never healed and never got infected, and his fur was wearing off all the sharp points of his skeleton--of which there were many.
He was the Velveteen Cat, but he started out Real.
Hey, wanna help each other Christmas shop? Here's who I need to buy for:
- GF: Interests are music (she plays bass and loves indie rock and hip hop), comics, classic films, Sherlock Holmes, traveling, Wii, Legos, Nintendo DS. We've decided not to go insane this year, so I'm looking at around $100 to spend on 1 good gift or several small gifts.
- Mom: Not many interests (that's sad) but a loving grandma. Hit gifts I've gotten in the past include cozy PJs, a UCLA sweatshirt, and a wallet that I had that she expressed interest in.
- Dad: Interests are Georgia Bulldogs, NASCAR, music (country, Motown, beach music), Southern stuff. Hit gifts include
Standing in the Shadows of Motown,
UGA wallet, UGA slippers.
