Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

The status is NOT quo.

For those of you who liked Life Among the Savages, Anne Lamott's Operating Instructions also rocks a lot.

After we ate, Owen went up to a strange woman and tried to wrest her ice cream cone out of her hand.
This makes me laugh and laugh, too!

Sean, very cool!

t meme Sigh. I'm having a rough day. Like I mentioned yesterday, HUGE upheaval at the school going on right now, and people are grumbly and angry and generally discontent...kind of like school-wide PMS, though the male teachers are just as pissy. Anyway, I've opened my mouth way too many times today to offer an opinion when I should really just STFU. I have to remember that I'm still a newbie at this school. I just don't have the social capital to voice an opinion, especially not a dissenting one.

Today has triggered all of my unpopular, social outcast junior high emotions. I feel like I used to when I'd try to talk to the cool kids, and one nice one would take pity on me and respond while the rest rolled their eyes and dismissed me as insignificant. I know, logically, that that is not what's happening, but the schism that is forming among the faculty is leaving me feeling really isolated. Blah. Add to that the fact that I've pretty much been told that I'm not going to get to teach a junior American Lit class since the guy in that position "isn't great" with the younger kids (and I am, so therefore I should have to teach all of them), and...well...I'm pretty bummed out. t /meme

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Kristin that sucks.

I'm working on the trivia quiz for our holiday party and I was making sure I had a good mix of classic and modern movies when I realized that one I consider modern ( A Christmas Story ) actually came out years before most of the people who work here were born.

Oy, Kristin. Sounds like a crummy day, indeed.

Thanks, Laga & Sean.

Did you put trivia from Elf on there? That's a good modern one, I'd think.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Well, it does, but I have to peer really close, under the 80's hair.

I had to play "Find the Glamcookie" in that picture. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be either.

HAHA! It's pretty wild. I ditched the spiral perm pretty quickly after high school and no one ever recognized me after that. Which I totally loved!

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

"She GOT the mustard Ouuuuuuttttt!!!!"

t snerk

This is making me realize I had an easy evening with Annabel. The only challenge was keeping her from the hot stove and sharp knife when she was watching me cook. Well, that and the utterly unsuccessful attempt to get her to eat any of said dinner, a perfectly inoffensive meal of chicken drumsticks with honey-soy glaze, roasted sweet potatoes, couscous, and spinach salad. I'll be glad when she outgrows the finicky stage, though if she takes after me, that may be in another ten years or so.

I say we play "Lord of the Flies" with Em and Owen. Take then to a deserted island and leave them there.
Heh. I'm teaching this book right now. Man does it freak the students out. (And yes, I'm exactly the kind of sick bastard who enjoys the hell out of freaking my students out.)
