I for one am glad it's a slow posting day. Yes, very selfish, but, I am caught up. Very sad, that the night there is a flurry of west coast activity, I'm on the east coast sleeping. Yes, cat naps didn't work, I did the full on sleep. Go figure, when I want to sleep, I can't, when I want to nap, I fall into deep sleep. Pffft. Damn shame too, I missed kissing! Loves it. Tho, must confess, as a straight male, I've never made out with a guy. Sorry, so vanilla. What can I say.

ION, in case you haven't guessed, I am safe and sound from my travels. Drove into Orlando Airport starting at 4am. Flew across the country with no excitement (in a good way), landed early. Mom and I had a final brunch before seeing her off. And I just did a little snoozing, which I expect to do all night. Despite trying to catch up on last weeks TV, I think the TV will stay off a bit more.

ND, this week is just office hours. Let me know if you could use a hand or two. Mark's schedule is light too, just shows. I'm happy to share if it helps.

This time difference thing really is bizarre.

...so the guy from the OKCupid place wanted to ask me out for icecream. Er. Several days ago. But I didn't have internet access over the weekend. Er. But mostly I'm procrastinating. Which isn't a good way to meet people, is it? No. No. Right. I should get on that.

Physical types - er. Not so much, although my weakness for brunette girls with short hair and curves is a known quantity...basically, the little grey cells are my deal-breaker.

Meanwhile, I am indulging in the fantasy that somehow I could afford to fly home for Christmas via the United States, as my colleagues made lots of 'OMG, what do you mean you've never been to New York! You should go! At Christmas! Get a round-the-world ticket!' noises. As my travel agent hasn't got back to me yet to puncture my balloon, this is a Very Nice Pipedream.

I've been edgy all day and wasn't sure why. You know how sometimes your body knows a big change is coming before you do? I think this was one of those days. Just got out of a whole-school meeting with two reps from the Board of Trustees.

Our current Interim Head, who the faculty loves, is not being asked to move on to the next stage of the hiring process. The Board has selected a single candidate to put forth to us, who will be touring the school and entering the final round of interviews by herself. The faculty is freaking out, but I have to say that I'm not as upset as I thought I would be. I'll know better once I meet the candidate in a couple of weeks, but it sounds like she comes from a much stronger educational background (as in grounded in educational experience herself) than our current Interim Head, and I'm excited to meet her.

But yeah--the school is edgy as hell right now, and all the change can be tough for people who like stability.

I think that every time I go home. I skip and skim over the board when I'm at my mother's, because it helps me to remember that there are sane people out there somewhere. Then she complains that I'm *always* on the internet.

eta: Fay, it's only ice cream. Also, no one who likes ice cream can be all bad. It's also a way to judge character. Beware of someone who always orders the same ice cream. Be even more leery of someone who can't decide what he wants.
