They have already started replacing the collapsed 35W bridge in Minneapolis: [link]
From the article:
The first major drilling for the bridge will cut through 50 feet of soil, then an additional 50 to 70 feet into the sandstone below. The resulting hole, between 7 and 8 feet across, will be lined with steel, then filled with concrete that will form a shaft.
The shaft will be allowed to cure. Then they'll try to break it.
Sounds like the bridge is being built by Calvin and Hobbes.

ahhh that laugh felt good.
I'm so glad, Stephanie, that it wasn't a heart attack.
Whew--one of the times I'm glad to be catching up, because I saw Stephanie talk about Joe being in pain...and then maybe a heart attack...and then he's OK. Whew! All the news at once is much easier when there's a happy ending!
I got to hang out iwth Plei and Jilli and Pete and Billytea and Susan W tonight. You are all jealous.
Ooo, I'm jealous, especially since other than billytea you have them peeps available at a moments notice.
As a pedant, I am envious.

Hi, this is the cute little turquoise roaring dragon handpuppet that Fay purchased from the Night Safari in Singapore. I'm typing because Fay just made a strangled noise, turned an unexpected (but quite fetching - not unlike the scales on my tummy) shade of green, and then her head exploded.
I think it was something about envy? Possibly? Anyway, I've got to go open my own Facebook account and maybe surf the net in search of hot dragon chicks. Later doodz.
I don't care how cute you are lil dragon, bring back our Fay! She's way too fly to have splodey head. BRING HER BACK!
got quiet. I hope mr dragon found all Fay's head bits. Hope the crazy glue holds. Hope he found all rey matter bits too, thats one of her best traits!
(golly I hope I didn't kill the thread!) WAKEY WAKEY PEOPLES!
It was a bank holiday here yesterday. Yay! And the clocks went back, so technically I should have had an extra hour's sleep, but Boy woke me up an hour early because he wanted to get to the post office before driving up the country for the week. Still - four day week, can't complain.
