Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Just got an email telling me that they chose a different candidate for a position I had applied for internally. The job requirements are a perfect match to my experience...but the job is in Denver. Oh well. I'll take solice in the fact that I got a personal e-mail in a timely manner instead of a generic message 2 months from now.

FIVE MORE DAYS.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Just got an email telling us that although tomorrow is a faculty work day (no classes) so that we can work on writing scads of narrative comments, we have to be on campus.

I so feel you. We got a similar rug yanked after a long week of meetings and stuff when it was "clarified" at five minutes to twelve that

Noon: Wrap. Go Home!

on the schedule did not in fact mean we could go home. I about lost my shit.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Mr Jane wants to make the front of the bar look like the bow of a ship and then fly a pirate flag from the rooftop deck for Halloween.

AWESOME.

Also awesome? The Malificent costume. Though the Queen from Snow White was always my favorite. She had the best outfits AND a talking mirror.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I don't have one myself, but I don't think they're entirely unpractical - nursing a 4-month old in public is close to impossible without a cover because they're so distractable.

Annabel was fully bottle-fed by 4 months, but I can't imagine that she would've been willing to eat under one of those things. She was forward-facing in her Baby Bjorn from 5 or 6 weeks because she fussed and fussed when we wore it with her facing into our chests, and all my early experiments with the sling were failures for the same reason.

Annabel will be a pirate for Halloween, in this costume: [link]

Shit's all sorts of different now.

LOVE The Queen from Snow White.

In fact, the villians might be the only way Emeline will not get any guff from me about dressing up as The Princesses for Halloween.

Maybe next year she'll want to be Ariel and I can be Ursula.

Muahahaha.

ARGH. This is exactly what I'm talking about. If there was any rationale, I might understand, but this is just completely arbitrary.

Wow, I'm really angry about this. I was chugging along writing comments, and I've been completely frozen with rage since I got that email.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Pirate ship bar! Tiny pirate! Pirate costume for Annabel! Love!

Kristin's school, no love. Surely if anyone can be trusted to work from home it's teachers, what with all the after hours at home work y'all are expected to do as a matter of course. Ridic.

-t, exactly. It's the implication that we won't work or that Friday will be a "day off" if we aren't here. Trust me, admin, when you have the equivalent of 16 pages (single-spaced) of comments to write, you don't have a lot of free time. Grrr.

Okay. Teaching shortly. Thanks for listening.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

High fives Nora, my sistah in Salem Halloween Grinch-dom.

Halloween is generally the time to FLEE AND LOCK YOUR DOORS.

True dat. Which is why I'm off to Maine this weekend. I'll just hunker down (and get home late-ish) on Weds.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Owen just picked out his own costume. He's a Care Bear. He's been watching the Care Bear Movie ad nauseum. As soon as we got home, he had to put it on. He's watching tv now as Bedtime Bear. I had to go to the infant section to find something small enough for Liv. She's a fuzzy monkey.

I need to get pictures.

Our realtor is coming any minute so I've got the kids in the basement.

Tonight is the last night the kids and I will spend in this house. Meep.
