From the discussion, I think all the cases were people she could not punish legally. But police are not so supposed to act as vigilantes. They are supposed to leave that to Batman.
Procedurals 1: Anything You Say Can and Will Be Used Against You.
This thread is for procedural TV, shows where the primary idea is to figure out the case. [NAFDA]
Yes, it was generally cases where the system failed, or the perp worked the system. She'd gotten a confession, so she knew that they were guilty, and she was creating a situation where they would get punished, even if it wasn't at her hand.
Given the reasonably rotten previews, I actually liked the IA show pilot.Of course, I may just be the rare person looking for a crime show/chick show hybrid, but for a Lifetime show, I found it fairly understated. I also like that she gets to enjoy sex, and that the actress is cute without being, like, "Put the supermodel's hair in a bun, then she'll look like a detective," gorgeous.
Saw a preview for Prime Suspect for this fall--am I right in thinking they're importing the stellar British show?--and I'm puzzled by how they're dressing the lead. She always has a scarf or a high necked shirt of some sort around her throat. Is it a fashion I haven't noticed yet, or does the actress not like her neck, or is it supposed to mean something? It was distracting.
Maybe they want to spin a vampire paramour angle.
It would certainly be different from Helen Mirren's interpretation--though she would rock in a vampire show.
Belatated addition to Closer conversation. Given the comment that the chief is essentially a serial killer, and the additional comment that she only kills bad guys: so the chief is really Dexter?

I saw a preview and was not amused (in the British sense). Jane Tennyson is awesome, and the bit I saw was not awesome, it was typical American brashness. I will watch it, because I love both Maria Bello and Prime Suspect, but I have very low expectations.
Yeah, this Jane looks more like the typical "hard-nosed bitch trying to get ahead in a man's game" thing. The guy she's riding with even says "Have you ever been afraid that someone was going to drop a house on you?" Not encouraging.
I heard the show is good, but nothing like PS on BBC. So I'm willing to give it a chance.
