So here's my point globally: it is against department policy for two members of the same division to have a romantic relationship. Fine. It is true Hightower laid down the boogie, and Lisbon didn't want to know about it before Hightower.
But there are so many other ways in which the division/department violates policy. I am not sure that the romantic relationship even approaches the chaos of Jane (I keep misspelling). Truth be told, they would have turned the whole place inside out after Red John killed half the division. The mere fact Jane works with them causes the division unnecessary risk - they are only on RJ's radar because of Jane.
I like The Mentalist, without Jane.
They seem to think Jane is the quirk needed to set 'em apart from all the other procedurals. But they may be failing to recognize the awesomeness that is Cho. But if they did take Jane away, I'd miss the pretty.

This does burn up a lot of handwavium.
(I keep misspelling).
For a Firefly fan, it's a tough mistake to avoid. I've backspaced over the extraneous 'y' more than once myself. After Mr. Cobb, it's kind of hard not to expect all men named Jane to be Jayne. Aaaaaaaaaand now the elevator in my head is now stuck between floors with Patrick Jane and Jayne Cobb. And River, just to throw in more chaos.
What do I need tv for, I can keep myself entertained forever.
Yeah, and FWIW, I could get rid of Jane in a heartbeat. Or at least keep him about as toned down as he was in this week's ep.
I love me some Cho and for the life of me, I don't understand why they don't give him more screen time. I think he is my favorite. If they kill him off, I will not be amused.
I don't think the show has anything that sets it apart, aside from Jane. Cho is amazing, but there's no way, I think, that they can write him in a way that stands up to extended screentime. Brusqueness is his thing. How much of that can you do? None of the other characters are remarkable or that interesting. I'm not saying you have to have a gimmick, but you should have *something*. The crimes aren't all that, the rest of the crimesolvers are pretty mundane.
I think they should mellow out Jane a bit, but having him like he was this week is just great.
Question of procedure...see what I did there?...Would we be discussing the new CHAOS dramedy here, in comedy or in Natter? (which I have not yet visited this morning so the question might be answered already)
The thing is, Simon Baker is so ridiculously gorgeous.

Also, I like listening to him talk.
All of the above on Simon Baker.
I like seeing the pretty on my screen.
But I'm with the others who love the more toned down Jane of this week.
Just watched, and totally agree.
What was that show with crazy-looking Ray Liotta that he was on? Kind of like Leverage but dark instead of fun. He was a whole different kind of (very hot) psycho on that.
Smith!
Man, if that show had lasted, the slash that would have been written about his character and Jonny Lee Miller's...
