I think she knew exactly what happened as soon as the doctor hugged her - that Castle had seen him coming down the hall and changed what he was going to say mid-stream.

I was afraid that at the end the Adrian Pasdar character would pull Beckett and Castle out of the room and say he ought to charge them with multiple counts of something or other. Glad to see they're going to be free to save the world - or at least NY - again.
